RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING
Got the chair done. I cant find out how to add edges so that I can add more detail to the chair like bends. Once I add the edges I know what to do I am just missing that step. Any help would be great. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) joey45
Thanks Rudel The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. KillarZ
This is my very first model that I've stated in early July. Well technically, it is my second, I started with too many polys on my first which ultimately led me to restarting. It took me about a week or two to get this far. Unfortunately I accidently welded too many vertices together and now the intake is messed up. This discouraged me to stop working on it for a while. I want to get back to work on it but I have to figure out a way to fix this problem. I'm not asking for your help but if anyone has any constructive advice on what I should fix or what I should do feel free to share.

KillarZ
Stop using meshsmooth/turbosmooth. Thanks, what other ways are available for smoothing out mesh. Also after reading through some of your thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=41425&page=15 It really made me rethink my techniques on 3d modeling. I just wanted to ask for others opinions, Am I on the right track? Should I restart my model after looking through more tutorials to get create a better more smooth and clean model? In this model I just took a cylinder and started to reshape it into what I have now. Is this a good way to model. Also Right now every thing is one object. Should I have had different groups for the wings, fuselage, intakes, etc.? And last, using the symmetry modifier should I get in the habit of modeling with out it? JaNk0
Hey KillarZ The big boys will probably correct me on this but I try to get nice, defined, basic shape of the airplane which is more or less a low poly airplane. My secret is to make the job as easy as possible while creating the model, smaller number of vertices, so that I don't have more work set out for me than necessary. When you finish your model, then you can apply the turbosmooth to see your High-poly aircraft but until you reach that stage just work with editable poly, with small amount of vertices. Best advice I can give you ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Delete the Meshsmooth Modifier. go back to Editable Poly, expand, select polygon editing, highlight the entire mesh (CTRL+A) go to smoothing, click "Clear All", then Click Auto and it will smooth it out nicely. karambiatos
also when you are putting down modifiers you do symmetry then turbosmooth for example, also you should use turbosmooth since you cannot move vertices with it, with meshsmooth you can sometimes edit something only to notice youve done it in meshsmooth, now you need to do it all over again. A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING
Hey guys I need a hand here. Im going through the amazing tutorial by CrackinCGI and im stumped here. Ive loaded my images and in the bottom right hand corner you can see Ive created the Helpers or Formers for the fuselage. Now When I carry them to the Fuse they don't add up! This is my problem. Now I thought the width and height of the different reference pages was the issue but in his tutorial it doesn't seem to be the case. Any ideas and thanks for your time and help. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) -Rudel-
Ditto... Sometimes you need to make adjustments. RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING
OK, Well I took the one page that had all sides and formers and ribs on it. I put that into photoshop and created single pics of the front, side and top and exported to desktop then 3ds. I then entered the entire page into 3ds after making it too a bitmap file and they don't lign up. That's why I was thinking the width and height were off cause each pic is different. Or is this a case of find a different pic and start all over again. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) ED Team NineLine Posted August 31, 2013 ED Team Share Posted August 31, 2013 I always make the images the same size in PS lay them overtop of each other to make sure they line up, most of these are scans from books and can really be distorted... RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING
Sith thanks a lot. Looks like ill start over again but a valuable lesson is learned. ED Team NineLine Posted September 1, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 1, 2013 Well this is what I do, not sure about everyone else, but I put each drawing on its own layer in Photoshop, set the layer to multiply, then just resize, skew, or whatever to get them lined up the best I can. RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING
Great, I worked with this and it worked out well. Also adjusting the height and width from one pic to the next before inserting into 3ds. At the end of the day I cant seem to find any great blueprints with ribs and formers or helpers.
