skeemo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hi i did not found anything clearly here so i opened a new one... Here's whats going on. I had Vista installed. I DEactivated BlackShark I installed Win7 I REactivated BlackShark. Everythings fine, besides i missed to backup some files so some mods are messed up and i cannot revert back to stock textures a.s.o. Can i now install BlackShark OVER the actual installation to "reset" all files WITHOUT loosing any activations/deactivations ?
EtherealN Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) As long as no hardware changes occur you will not lose any activations. As for whether an overwrite of an old (but I assume not registry-integrated into W7) will work, I don't know. I generally prefer to have things be as clean as possible myself so I've never tried that. What I would recommend really is to make a clean install of Black Shark, copy over the players.lua file and suchlike that you want from the old one, and then reapply the mods from "scratch" to the new. But in general, Black Shark is now activated for your current OS/Hardware configuration, so to my knowledge you can install and uninstall on there about as much as you want as long as you do not change hardware components or rename your computer in the OS. (And even then, I believe only a CPU swap would be big enough on it's own to cause a new activation to be required, I'll see if I can find the relevant post about that.) EDIT: Here we go, and I threw in an extra underline for the most relevant bit... Q: What form of copy protection does the product utilize? A: The currently available English download and boxed releases of DCS: Black Shark both utilize StarForce ProActive copy protection technology. The products require online activation, which is done automatically if internet connection is available. Black Shark can also be activated via eMail or the StarForce website. StarForce ProActive used to protect DCS doesn’t install drivers or other system modules. If StarForce detects changes to your computer hardware/software as described below, an activation will be required. The English versions include 8 (eight) activations and 10 (ten) deactivations. It's important to note that deactivations are utilized to save your activations when altering your PC hardware/software. Before conducting a PC upgrade/OS re-install, you can deactivate the product and when complete, reactivate without a loss of activations. http://www.star-force.com/support/users/deactivate/ An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: CPU ID: 13 Windows PID: 3 Computer Name: 3 Hard drive volume serial number: 3 MAC address: 6 RAM amount: 6 If you just uninstall Black Shark and then reinstall it again on the same PC without reinstalling your operating system or changing hardware, you do not need to use a deactivation. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3 Edited May 13, 2009 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
