Hi guys. My x52 pro is 3 days old. I ve noticed that there is a major time lag between pressing the buttons and seeing the required effect. This doesnt always happen, but it is regular enough to be very annoying. The lag is around 2 seconds, but sometimes it is as much as 5 seconds. Further it looks like the pinkie switch isnt working anymore. There is no lag for any of the axes though. Anyone know what to do? Please help!

Thanks,

Betty

First I would check is are your drivers & software for the pro, the same Version, next I would check out the saitek forums, they are a really helpfull bunch, and you are sure to get some answer to help as well.

Good luck:)

Hey bettymoo,

unfortunately I don't know what to do, but fortunately for you there's at least another one -- me -- who got the same problem. I observed, that it is mostly the buttons on the stick, not on the thrust control. I played around a lot with different drivers, but I soon got the feeling, that it became worse. I manually cleaned the whole registry, it became better, but not perfect. Sometimes it works from the beginning and then, after a couple of minutes, the effect appears. Sometimes it was much more than 5 or 10 seconds. I guess, it's something with the drivers. Since we got the same problem, the hardware should be okay.

So long, Torsten

edit: I can confirm, that the axes are always working. If I remember correctly (I'm on holiday, so no way to check this), the toggle buttons at the bottom of the stick as well.

Hi Guys,

Check in the Game Controllers control panel in windows, and see if the same behavior is exhibited in there (it has a control panel style layout with all available axis and button assignments for directinput).

Also,

Try a differnt USB controller if available, or even a powered external USB hub, incase it is bus issues.

Its the same in the game controllers in control panel........

Hi Nemesis, its the same situation when i try it out in the control panel game controllers! But now the lag has become a lot more, in fact i think the stick has stopped responding. The throttle is fine, its the stick that is unresponsive now. I feel like i ve been ripped off!!

....What do I do?.....

Troubleshoot at the Saitek Forums. If no luck, then send it back. I had issues with first a X52 and then a X52 Pro within a coupla months of each other, with both wingin' their way back to the factory, culminating in a refund.

The point is - if you're willing to put up with Saitek then you'll find their Customer Support excellent. They will go out of their way to set you straight - just gotta contact them is all.

And yeah - above was in the U.K. - not sure where you are based/where you got the product from.

Just pissing into the wind here, but have you tried swapping the PS2 cable around which connects your stick to throttle?

This probably isnt the cause, but i have heard of cable problems causing undesirable effects.

I remenber long ago that disabling VSYNC on your GFX could cause controler lag on some systems.

Well. its completely quit on me.........

The buttons on the stick dont respond anymore. The axes work fine, but the buttons are completely dead. The throttle unit is still working the way it should though.

I tried registering on the saitek forums, but for some reason i have still not been approved to post there ( its been 72 hours).

I also sent an email to saitek tech support (72 hours ago), no response. I did get an automated email from them saying I will be attended to within 14 hours.

I also tested it on my flatmates computer, same problem there too.So off I go to the retailer tomorrow for a refund or exchange.

Hi bettymoo, hi all,

anything new to this? Did you get a new controller, does it work?

I still fight the same problem and I think it's something weird with the drivers. It seems as if a new driver is instanciated when the X52 is plugged to the USB port, causing interferences and thus lags. I plugged it to another port and it worked until it was reset when starting a new mission.

I also used an externally powered USB hub. The problem was similar, but this time, using the new USB port, the LEDs on the throttle wouldn't work. This was reproducible.

I can't think of a hardware problem, because it's somewhat reproducible (axes always work, toggle buttons and throttle, too. LEDs and the other joystick keys do not always, sometimes depending on USB port) but then there are times where it just works.

Any help is appreciated, currently I'm trying to register for the saitek forums like bettymoo did.

Cheers, bfeld

Can it possibly be a broken connector on the PS2-cable connecting the stick with the throttle unit? Check for broken pins and/or if possible check it out for breakages with a multimeter or similar. Maybe there is a break in the cable somewhere producing contact errors randomly?

Hi Boulund,

I already checked the pins and swapped the cable around as suggested by Shadow.D.. However, I didn't "really" check it with a multimeter yet. Thanks, I will try that tonight.

Yes, first I just re-installed (with previous deinstallation) everything. Then I tried a backup point. Then I manually cleaned everything I could find off the registry. And so on, but with windows, you never know if there's anything left. Perhaps I should reinstall windows... but first, I hope for a broken cable ;)

Thanks, bfeld

Hello,

unfortunately, it's not the cable. So I will search the Saitek forums, re-install Windows (in case it's a driver issue) or send it back (might be a loose connection somewhere).

Thanks, bfeld
