Ramstein Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 (edited) In CH-47 the helo jumps straight up when I change from Bob to manual. I was using a hook to carry a fuel tank and when I was getting ready to unload, I switched Bob to manual and the thing jump up, broke the rope and lost the cargo... I have been seeing this abrupt behavior when doing the switch, but you cannot just leave it in Bob the whole time.. if there is already a thread on this a apologize.. Yeah, you kind of have to be aware of the position of your controls when switching to/from Bob. Like if you have used Bob to land, and set your collective a little below the mid point so he descends slowly to touchdown, and then turn him off. DCS can sometimes immediately set the collective to just under half and away you go. Same when you have a lot of collective in for fast forward flight and then engage Bob, he sees that as a command to increase altitude at the max rate. I just make sure I'm ready to make rapid adjustments to the controls when switching him On/Off Edited September 11, 2024 by jonsky7 1

MAXsenna Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Hi please add a short track replay example if the advice above does not help. thank you bignewyI haven't tried Bob yet. Does the Controls Indicator show where Bob has the controls, like in the Huey? If not, you guys might want to consider implementing those, so we can easily match our physical controls. Cheers! You dont have to worry about matching so much as you are using your collective to set the altitude, I find as long as I am in level flight when I switch BOB off the transition is pretty good. I think it is easier to use than the AH-64D George, however George has more options with different states it can be in. 2 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Ramstein Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 I can't use the 'DCS menu item of match in game cockpit controls with Hotas' or whatever it says,, I tried that not long ago and it wasn't for me at all, I hated it. in theory it sounds good... But it is a source of frustration I use it a lot on Rotorhead server. And all my crashes is because of it. If you pull collective to fast you also go to an unrecoverable stall if at low altitude. Ofcourse it is my fault, it is like in real life. I bump my head at the same spot endlessly. My fault, nevertheless very frustrating. Flying the Kiowa a lot, I kind of accustomed to more complete systems. I am going to adore the hook. Love it already. But well, it kind of don’t love me back sometimes 1
Ramstein Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 while i have been in the chinooks on the ground I have never been in the air with that helo. I have flown in another twin rotor helo when I was very young. I have been in lots of Hueys and through combat maneuvers in the Hueys from Nam and they flew great, they can handle extreme turns dives and much more,, it never did anything crazy... like jumping up. There has to be something wrong in the code or settings for this big problem changing from Bob to manual. IMHO. LuseKofte Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 I still got issues with Bob when I want him to increase altitude fast. Like coming back from [F10] map. It commits genocide counting the troops onboard. It might very well be my own stupidity , it is still very frustrating and I hope a update is coming soon
