Italian aerobatic team "Frecce Tricolori" will replace their MB-339 with MB-346!

Originally the M-345 was designed as successor of MB-339 for PAN ("Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale", National Aerobatic team)... seems that someone at the Italian Air force finally realized that the M-345 does not fit the Frecce Tricolori needs.

Although the "Macchino" will be missed, the M-346 is a far better machine.

Even the MB-339 is a light weight attack jet, but it is classified as trainer too.

Then why not create the FA version and sell it as "Light Attack derived from Trainer" (or maybe don't even mention the Trainer at all)?

If you manage to find enough doc to make a good implementation of the M-346 FA no one should care about the fact that is trainer-derived variant.

And yes you are right: the Macchino is actualy a trainer/light attack plane with some worth mentioing operative history (ask Owen Crippa for that), but it's much more known (and loved) for its 40 years long Trainer role.

M-364 on the other hand is a brand new plane: AFAIK AMI has evaluated it / is evaluating it to replace the now retired AMX Ghibli feet for CAS role.

The flight control system is full digital with complex control laws to be coded.
It is a twin seater so it means double commands to be synced in multiplayer too.
The aircraft popularity is very low and confirmed by the copies sold on the other civ sim that are below the average.
Taking into account that DCS is not popular like the other civ sim, the risk is to invest a lot of resources and time on a product that does not allow us to cover the costs.

As IFE, we love the aircraft, we know a lot about it and we have the complete 3d assets and documents to make an authentic digital version.
As aircraft enthusiasts we would make it immediately, but we are also developers so we have to choose very well the next aircraft to make.
Unfortunately, the M-346 cannot be the next.
