What Maps / Terrains are recommend for playing WW2 Warbirds?

I currently see two terrians that can be bought:

- Normandy 2.0

- The Channel Map

Is it worth to buy one terrain?

How about the "WWII Assets Pack" - worth to buy too?

Unfortunately, I didn't see much multiplayer servers hosting these maps and those few also have only a couple of players. So, I am not sure if you should start with WW2 Birds, if almost nobody is playing online.

DSC WWII has not been shown a lot of love by ED.  It will always be a secondary market to their modern jet and rotary wing content.

That said, there are upcoming releases for Mag3's Corsair (Including a CV and WWWII PAC AI assets) and also a ED F6F.  There is talk of ED having additional WWII assets for PTO, but it is unclear if that is going to be added to the existing WWII assets pack or a separate one.  No idea on timeline on those.  Hoping between now and summer 25.  but who knows.  No ETA has been announced as far as I know.  I'm hoping DCS WWII get get a bit of a re-birth at that point.

If you want to dabble in some WWII now, I'd look at some of Reflected Simulations SP campaigns to get some practice and have some fun while you are waiting.  That will probably entail The campaign, the warbird the campaign was made for, probably Normandy 2.0, and probably current WWII asset pack.  But pick the campaign first and get the minimum of what the campaign needs.  His campaigns get very good reviews and its a good way to get your stick time in while waiting for more WWII activity to pickup.

There are also a couple of servers like Project Overlord and Wolfpack you might want to try out too, but you'd probably enjoy it more after getting some practice with a campaign first, IMHO..

$0.02.

Normandy is the only one worth it. And if you want to play multiplayer or in a somewhat decent WWII scenario, the assets pack is a must.

However, be advised that ED doesn't really show any love to the WWII stuff as of late (we received gear physics update and a new FW-190A8 cockpit model this year while ancient issues remain unsolved for years). So as of now, as you can see by the amount of online WWII players, it is not really worth to buy anything just yet. You might be simply better of by the other products on the market depending on what you seek for.

Doesn´t sound great. What a pity.

Though I could have some IL2 Sturmovik retro feelings with DCS.

Wolfpack and Overlord servers are awesome.  There are times u might find 30-40 peeps on OL, and its a great fun when ther is at least 10 on WP. I miss the variety of Il2, but after flying ww2 DCS for last year, it is so hard to go back to IL2...

Are there any known roadmaps from DCS about terrains or planes - not only for WW2? A page on the website would be great, to see what is planned, what they are working on... especially for the early access products.

I liked the Development Roadmap from MSFS 2020

Aces High III is king of WWII Multiplayer and still running. Give it a shot. 120 planes and vehicles, fly them whenever you want, however you want. You'll never find a better more seasoned community.
