Myztkl-Kev Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 I have flown this mission in its entirety twice, the first time I flew direct heading to all destinations (over the mountains and hills) and the second time I flew between the valleys, what I would assume is the intended route, with half power compared to the first go, and I ran out of fuel in the exact same spot 5kms away from the base. I mean, the first try after running out of fuel seems expected since I was full throttle and flying over large hills, but the second time I was very conscious of how fast I was going and still ran out of fuel 5km from base. It's very frustrating flying for an hour and a half just to crash less than 2 minutes from the end. I see there are tonnes of old threads complaining about the fuel consumption of this heli in particular so I would assume it was fixed. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I found a thread with a fuel consumption chart but I have no clue how to read it.
Myztkl-Kev Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 I ended up just calling the ground crew and giving myself more fuel before I took off. I still tried flying as efficiently as possible, if I would have made it without fuel, it was just barely.

I knew about this but I didn't want to switch back since I've already learnt how to fly with the new model, and apparently you can't use the old FM on MP servers (if I ever wanted to do that). It's more of an issue that these missions need to be updated for the new FM, but from what I can see around here that's wishful thinking. I ended up just buying some newer huey campaigns, the UN Pilot campaign missions are too long for my liking anyways. But as I mentioned above, I could get around it by just refueling before take off since the missions only start you with half a tank, so if anyone else has this problem, that's a better work-around than reverting flight models I think. The old FM may be underpowered according to the graphs, but it feels much more plausible and provides a flight performance as if you were flying a loaded Huey (with the discrepancy that the loading screen tells you you are not). With the new FM you often see people cruising at 130kts on MP servers... Edited October 3, 2024 by Volator 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven
virgo47 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I've just played this mission the first time, not knowing exactly what to do, I first took the wounded straight across the ridge - this definitely cost me some fuel. I was considering refuelling at the outpost, having the fuel pointer just around 4 and then told myself: "What the heck, at worst I'll play it again." I landed with the needle one small tick above 0 (=0.2). So yeah, it can be tight, but it seems possible. New FM here. I had a much bigger problem with the copilot telling me he'd fly while I could set the ADF, but he never really took over and the Autopilot keybind didn't do anything, whether I was in position 1 or 2. This puzzled me quite a lot, but I managed it somehow. 1 L-39, F-5E, F/A-18C, MiG-15, F-86F, C-101, FC2024 Yak-52, P-47, Spitfire UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50 III, SA342 NTTR, PG, SY, Chnl, Norm2 Supercarrier, NS430, WWII, CA VKB STECS+Gladiator/Kosmosima+TPR DCS Unscripted YouTube "Favourite" bugs: 1) gates not growing regress, 2) L-39 target size cockpit animation regress, 3) Yak-52 toggles not toggling, 4) all Caucasus ATC bugs

Is it called "autopilot"? Guess it is. Can't remember. I use VoiceAttack. "You have control", "I have control". Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
