Gav Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) I really don't think this is stuff caused by how the campaign was designed but rather by DCS having so many core bugs right now. But I thought it'd be worth sharing for costumer experience feedback. I can't get through Event 2: 1 vs 1. The first time I attempted the mission the helicopter landing by the tower to the west crashed and left a huge fire ball that blocked the taxiway and seemed to have broken the script triggers. My next attempt the game dumped me into the debriefing menu the first time I tried to reset for the lag roll and then froze out the "end mission" and "close" buttons so I ended up having to ctrl-alt-del close the game. Again, I suspect this is from core game bugs instead of campaign design issues, but I can provide logs files if desired. EDIT: I just had resetting for the lag roll dump me into the frozen debrief screen again. log and track attached. For some context the first time I had the game crash resetting the lag roll, it was my first attempt and I had lost sight of Cobra int he clouds, so I went for the reset before the mission had trigger as completed. The second time I had successfully executed the lag roll, but I wasn't' satisfied with the execution and wanted to try again when prompted to either retry or move on. So it doesn't seem to matter either the reset is requested to interrupt the mission or at the end of the mission. Reflected Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Thanks, you better send these to ED, because those who can fix it are not following this subforum. The helicopter though, it never crashed for me in a 100 replays. Do you have any mods installed? Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
OldBadger Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) Just for info, on my fourth attempt I had the helicopter crash (pretty spectacular really) but as I had been about 25 minutes setting up, I and the F86 just taxied through the flames and all was ok. Ended up my most successful attempt at the mission so you can can carry on if that happens. equally, I have no mods. Edited September 24, 2024 by OldBadger 2
Gav Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 @Reflected No mods for me. Like OldBadger's experience, my helicopter crash happened at the end of a long setup (I did a full INS align). I have no idea what triggered it. Cobra also just went through the smoke for me, but after the weapon safety station, he froze at the runway and wouldn't proceed to take off. Knowing more about how the campaign is setup, I suspect that I missed throwing a switch in the cockpit, but the prompt never queued for some reason.
MichaelJWP15 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Yes, the DCS bugs are a little annoying. I had done everything in mission 6, checked my wingmans jet out for battle damage, no issues. Fell into trail, and as I was doing so, he managed to somehow reverse/slide right into me, killing us both I appreciate the way these missions are set up though, where you can play the parts individually if you want to. In the absence of a DCS save game these are very useful, even though it means playing them in the mission editor means you don't progress the campaign in the main interface. 1 - Michael Intel Core i7 13700K | RTX 4070 | ASUS TUF Z690 | Pimax Crystal | Virpil/Warthog HOTAS

When you do the battle damage check you’re supposed to cross under to the other side, and give the thumbs up there (where he can see it) If you are behind/under/ on the wrong side they may very well crash into you because they suck at collision avoidance. If Jester (or whoever is your on that day "GIB" ^^) gives you the "canopy closed stipes aligned" stuff and you hold short, then Lead or your RIO will call Tower (or do the "check") on Button 3. If Lead was already on the runway and didnt go on it might have been a trigger issue. Hope that help a bit Am 23.9.2024 um 18:16 schrieb Gav: I really don't think this is stuff caused by how the campaign was designed but rather by DCS having so many core bugs right now. I personally only had the issue with getting dumped to debriefing in the whole campaign once. And that was when i used "refly" after a 75% (or sth) attempt. After that i erased the flown mission out of the logbook.lua and reflew it from start. Cheers!
Gav Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 It looks like both the mission reset bug, and the 'AI helicopters just sometimes can't figure out where the ground is' bug both got addressed in the latest patch's changelog. 1

Unfortunately, it did not. I had this happen after a long startup just yesterday. I'm on whatever the current build is. It was annoying, but it gave me an opportunity to meticulously go through the check list and startup procedure again.
