Dangerzone Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 I'm noticing that the Pimax software doesn't seem to respect the offliine mode when I choose it. My firewall is reporting that Pimax is still sending data over the internet, to s4.cnzz.com, google.com, google-analytics.com, and appstore.pimax.com while I'm using "Offline Mode". Is there something else that needs to be done for Pimax Play to respect offline mode (and my privacy)? 1

Dangerzone Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 When I'm disconnected from the internet, the software doesn't appear to work properly. Icon's don't show up. I can still use the HMD - but it appears as though changing to offline mode doesn't do much except stop you from being able to shop on the pimax store?
Calvin.Pimax Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Let me check with the software team; there might be a bug.

Thanks mate - that would be greatly appreciated! Cheers. PS - your presence here, and offer to help and connect directly with the VR community is a real credit to Pimax! Coming from HP where it felt like I was only a number, just a small spec, and wasn't worth anyone's time - where I just experience different faceless support person each time with no real resolution, just 'playing support'- it's a real nice change! Thank you. Edited September 30, 2024 by Dangerzone

Calvin.Pimax Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Hi DZ, I tested the Pimax Play headset on my PC with the internet disconnected. Everything seems to be working fine. I can access the device settings and other features. However, I've noticed that data transfers are failing.

What data transfers are you referring to in regards to data-transfers failing? I would have thought offline mode means no data transfers occurring. Things I've noticed: Offline mode still attempts to communicate just as much as Online mode. (Including trying to access the Pimax store). The software shouldn't have any need or be attempting any outbound communication at all while in offline mode. Among other things, this raises security concerns. When disconnected from the internet completely, the software doesn't display graphics correctly. It's as though the graphics are being loaded each time from a website. Did you end up having a chat to the team, and get a response back from them? Thanks Adam.
Calvin.Pimax Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Hi Adam, Thanks for the prompt feedback. I'll forward this to the development team and work on scheduling a meeting to address this along with the other mentioned bugs. Thanks again! 1

Cheers DZ Hi DZ, Apologies for the delayed response. The software team is looking into this, but I can't provide a specific timeline at this moment. However, I've already submitted this request in the earlier meeting. 1
