Every time I turn on my PC, my DCS doesn't open the first time.

Good afternoon folks.

Every time I turn on my PC, my DCS doesn't open the first time. I need to go to the Windows Task Manager, click on End Task, and try 3 , 4  or more times until the simulator opens normally. Any idea what it could be?

Unlike a topic I was reading, in my case the PC doesn't crash. What happens is that the DCS gets stuck on a black screen before the loading screen appears.

The strange thing is that after a few attempts it opens normally. It seems to have to warm up to work

This has been happening for a long time since I built my new PC.

I've tried complete repairs of the DCS but didn't work.

I don't have any Mods, because even if I did, this problem has been happening since the initial installation.

 

I'm running the MT version.

An example of a crash. I just ran another slow repair. It got stuck at 10%. I had to go to Task Manager and click End Task.

@Nazgûl, can you add an exclusion in your anti-virus for the entire "C:/Users/otavio/Saved Games/dcs.openbeta" folder, as well as the DCS installation folder. Your log appears to show it recompiling the shaders each time. These should be cached and not recompiled every time you start the game.

Hey man, how are you? They were already in the antivirus exclusion. I had also already set them as trusted applications

This shouldn't help, but there has been a couple of people it seemed to have, but change your shortcut to point to D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe (remove the "-mt" after the "bin") and see if that helps.  In theory it should be launching the same thing, but at least one other report this fixed it for them and one other error with someone using the "bin-mt" folder in the shortcut

I tested a few minutes ago. Also tested opening the original DCS "bin" (not multithreading). Both of them had the problem.

The good thing is that after 4 or 5 attempts the DCS works. So I can still fly "kkkkkkkk"

Honestly, Kapersky is usually in the #1 or #2 spot for regularly causing issues with DCS (and pretty much every other game).  I'd still say it's likely your problem.

You mean disabling Kapersky? Windows also has its own AV, Windows Defender, which is pretty much all you need. Recommend adding exclusions in there as well as it may kick in as well with Kapersky disabled (possibly even when enabled).

I also dropped your log file into the DCS log analyser which has a little feedback re: tuning advice. Not saying that this is going to fix your issues though.null

You'll likely need to do a repair WHILE it's stopped and/or excluded from your antivirus.  It may have quarantined files and it won't release them just by stopping it.

Also with the latest DCS update both the DCS in the bin directory and the bin-mt directory both run the multithreaded version, ST is no more.

I did what you guys suggested, but didn't work.
- I uninstalled the Kaspersky antivirus.
- In Windows Defender, I put the folders in the Exclusions category.
What changed was that the first time I open DCS after turning on the PC, it opens normally. However, after logging out, if I want to open it again, the problem returns and I have to finish the task and try to open it several times.
So, I reinstalled the antivirus again.
Thank you guys for your attention and patience.

Hey guys. Today I took the day off to try to solve this. I uninstalled my Kaspersky antivirus and also my DCS.
After that I used CCleaner to repair the Windows registries.

Then I installed DCS again.
I put it and the folders in the Windows Defender Exclusion.
To my delight, it worked...but not for long.

After installing this modules...
AV8B
F16
F/A18
SU33
Super carrier
Syria map
Kola map...
...the problem came back.

So I removed all the modules again...and the problem didn't go away. I ran the slow repair and nothing. It didn't work. The crash when opening DCS remains.
So what I'm going to do now is delete everything again and reinstall DCS again.

Then I'm going to start installing module by module and test to see which module the problem arises from.

This  is the log after installing DCS without any modules installed. I went into it and just set my graphics settings (almost everything to max). There is no crash when opening DCS, just as I would like

I think I found the problem. The Supercarrier.
I uninstalled everything again.
Then I installed them in this order, one after the other (I didn't install all my modules together this time):
1-DCS
2-F16
3-FA18
4-AH64
5-AV8B
6-Supercarrier

At that moment the problem came back when opening the DCS.

(log before instal the Supercarrier )

(log after delete the Supercarrier )

I removed the Supercarrier and the problem disappeared.
I continued installing the other modules:

7-Syria map
8-Persian map
9-Kola map
10-Supercarrier again

At that moment the problem came back again, at a rate of 50%. Every 10 times I opened the DCS, about 5 would stop at a black screen and I had to go to End Task in Windows.

So I decided to uninstall the Supercarrier again and the problem went away. The DCS opens every time I try to run it.

Today I don't have any more time to do tests, but tomorrow I will continue to observe whether the DCS without the Supercarrier remains more stable without crashing when opening the simulator.

@Nazgûl Tried to quickly browse through the posts. Have you tried to rename your DCS folder in Saved Games? 

Also, it's never necessary to in-re-install. That's exactly what a full repair does. Only quicker.

@MAXsenna Hey man, how are you? I did that, yes. Before uninstalling everything I had deleted all the modules and run the slow repair, but the problems remained. Only after deleting everything and reinstalling that it stopped. I don't know what happened, but thanks

Not yet. I'll keep running the DCS without the Supercarrier for the next 3 or 4 days to make sure the problem is gone. Then I'll reinstall the supercarrier module and see what happens, if the problem comes back. So, in a few days possibly I'll come back here on the forum and post the results

During the last two weeks of testing without the Supercarrier module installed, everything was OK. The DCS opening and loading were all fine and fast. Yesterday I tested installing this module again and the problem reappeared. I had to try 5 times to get the DCS to run. On the first few attempts, the DCS freeze on the loading screen and not progress. Consequence: I uninstalled the Supercarrier again and the DCS started running smoothly again.

I'll wait for the next updates to see if anything comes out regarding the Supercarrier. Only after that will I reinstall it, unfortunately.
