I noticed that an important visual cue, aka smoke, does not appear at the same distance in cockpit view vs external view. This seems to give an advantage and uneven play to certain views. Does this happen with anyone else? Is there a way to fix this?

...its because of the zoom factor.

It depends on the FOV. If you zoom in in the cockpit view or zoom out in external view it should change.

yes, if i zoom in far enough in cockpit view the smoke instantly pops into view at a specific point. however at default FOV with interior and exterior they do not match up so you can see more things in F2 view than F1 view.

Cause they are and could not be the same POV per default (your helicopter is a little larger than your cockpit)

this is with everything, lighting, scenery, buildings etc.. I tested one day and went into options.lua and changed my view distance multiplier ( on extreme) from 1.5 to 3 and right about then the scenery in the cockpit view ( at my preferred fov) is about the same as the external view.
- I never quite understood why you could see things so much farther away in the external view. I always used external view on and off  at night to be able to see city/ airfield lighting. Doesn’t quite make sense to me. I really feel like zooming in the cockpit should only affect the cockpit, not the outside world. I mean when you’re driving/flying irl and you lean forward the world around you doesn’t magnify 😂 yes, its a game but one aspect I’ve always felt was wrong.. imo

And exactly that it doesn´t. If you are using TrackIR or VR and lean forward you only get closer to your panels with no influence on the magnification or view distance outside.

But if you USE zoom view, you GET zoom view.

Yeah, I suppose you’re right.. I didn’t put a lot of thought into that apparently 😂😁
