Convoy Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 We need more Navy vessels to fill our missions. With a lot of focus on the Cold War era, imagine flying your Phantom and underneath you see an Iowa class battleship turning it's turrets and firing. Or you're in your Warbird, and you see the Bismarck or Tirpitz. Pacific fleets, U.S. and Empire of Japan. Just watched a video on YouTube by HIP, that there's 18 modules being worked on. I'd like to see more work done on asset packs. I'll buy a $30 WW2 Pacific asset pack. I'll buy a $30 Cold War asset pack. I'll buy a $30 modern asset pack. I'll buy a $30 dollar airfield pack akin to Super Carrier. I will NOT buy every one of the 18 modules in development. We have so many planes and helos to fly, and maps to fly on, and I'm excited for some of the ones that are coming. But I personally would love to see more stuff that makes the world we fly in better, more diverse, complete, interactive as far as ATC goes, etc. Anyway my $0.02 3
bies Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Agree 100%. Cold War era assets would be fantastic. And AI ground, air and sea assets don't need to be of extremely high quality, just high quality. We won't see them from 10-20 meters anyway to be able to see any difference at all from the aircraft or even helicopter cockpit. It's especially true for the ground forces. With priority for the assets which actually are routinely visible from close distance, like the tankers, which currently are of, let's say, 'poor' quality. There is quite a massive difference in workhours and money needed to make extremely high quality model and just good enough one. Like many, many times more. You can often have like 10 decent quality models for just one single extremely high quality one. 2
flag02004 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Go look at the "mod" section (https://forum.dcs.world/forum/1156-staticai-mods-for-dcs-world/), there you'll find some creators (Admiral189, CurrentHill....) that will provide you with more naval or ground assets for free than you need....

Kang Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Haven't you heard? ED has done that whole year of 'naval focus' to sort this all out. More seriously, though: I don't think that the paid asset packs are the future. The whole WW2 asset pack seems to be mostly a fiasco for everyone involved, really, but having more assets, especially in the maritime direction, would be very much appreciated. Razbam has thrown a few into the mix to go with the South Atlantic map, just like they had added the Tarawa to go with the Harrier, and I'd say that putting in reasonably simple assets as 'by catch' to modules is a very good policy - I am more likely to buy a module if I have AI stuff that actually fits that module. The downside is that it puts a bit of pressure on ED right here, because lets face it, Chilenian ships in various variants aren't exactly the mainstream of interest and it does showcase how few good (i.e. not Lock On era legacy cardboard vessels) naval assets are in DCS otherwise. 2

Agree, though it seems we might be moving to some sort of enhanced packs. Base models are free. While you have to pay for fully detailed ones. That's fair in my opinion. 1 hour ago, Kang said: I'd say that putting in reasonably simple assets as 'by catch' to modules is a very good policy - I am more likely to buy a module if I have AI stuff that actually fits that module. Yup! 1 hour ago, Kang said: The downside is that it puts a bit of pressure on ED right here, because lets face it, Chilenian ships in various variants aren't exactly the mainstream of interest and it does showcase how few good (i.e. not Lock On era legacy cardboard vessels) naval assets are in DCS otherwise. Is that a downside?
