no eye tracking is a bit of a shame though i guess they had a challenge fitting it in to the form factor

Seems like god tier. Super lightweight while also possessing the highest consumer VR resolution??

Although at that high of a resolution, it's hamstrung by no eye tracking. Kinda shame they put in a motor for auto IPD adjustment (not really needed) and skipped eye tracking. I'd much rather have the latter.

A pre-order that cannot be cancelled?😁😆

Always cautious with pre-orders, even if they claim to be refundable they may not be

Ya the wording on the product page is crazy... "

  • Please note that orders cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded once confirmed.

I mean they could ship you a piece of junk, or take a year later to promise to ship it... and you have no recourse once your credit card charge-back window closes.

The specs are epic but without eye tracking and with the ridiculous order stipulations, I'll take the wait and see approach.

After all this time why would anyone trust this guy's promos?

Yeah, definitely hold your horses on this guy.
However, this HMD is real and i actually think that ShiftAll will deliver this time. And this is actually the first time i'm really convinced that this is the form factor of the future. It's all i want from a VR headset: small, light, good resolution and FOV. It still will take a couple of years, but yes - this is the way to go. No more bulky bricks on foreheads. Go go go MeganeX (XX whatever). The Beyond couldn't convince me because of the small FOV, but the future looks good seeing two companies working in the right direction already.

How do you define "real" and why do you "actually think" Shiftall will deliver?

Note that the 8K resolution won't do much for you if your hardware can't render it. Since DCS struggles even with 4K on top tier hardware, I doubt that we'll have a use for an 8K headset anytime soon. After the Vulkan version comes out and is optimized, it'll be a whole different ballgame, of course.

You have to bring the hardware of course. Next year comes the 5090...
However, i'm currently running 4Kx4K per eye as render target with the PSVR2 (DLSS 2776x2832 -> 4164x4244) with DCS settings on max. Getting 50-90 fps depending on the situation (depends on airframe and close to ground or not).

He should be for a device that will set you back 1900€.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

This new headset seems coming with smaller FOV(even smaller than Q3) which is killing flight sim. For me, that’s even worse than lacking eye tracking.

Another good preview. Sounds like FOV isn't going to be great, but the small size and apparently good binocular overlap should make up for it. Really interested in this vs the PCS.

Seems to lack audio input/output, but I guess wearing a headset would not be too objectionable.

It would be quite troublesome as daily basis use with additional headset.

Depends on what you find troublesome, I use an audio headset on my Rift-S all the time.

Just another sales pitch video. Clearly they only have a few prototype units to use for very carefully controlled demos.
