This is a hobby first and foremost. We understand that fact and so we aim to value the contributions of our community members first and foremost. People come first with us, and we recognized the importance of one's time invested with the 455th vAEW.  In simple terms, we seek the right kind of people, those who are friendly, courteous, and eager to join and participate in a community where friendships over our shared passion for aviation can be formed. 

Our Mission is to promote the usage of realistic tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in our virtual flying. We accomplish this mission through a detailed and comprehensive training program. The goal is to meet our virtual pilots at their own level of experience and transform them in competent pilots capable of making sound tactical decisions and contributors to team lethality.

We pride ourselves on our professionalism both inside and outside of the virtual cockpit. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our structured approach, extensive documentation, and abundant resources. Expect valuable briefings, engaging flights, and thorough debriefs that solidify the lessons learned.

Highlights

• We take our flying seriously but not ourselves, so while you will find a high level of flight discipline and standardization inside our virtual cockpits, briefs and debriefs, at the end of the day we are all part of the LPA. No virtual ranks or LARPing. (Milsim in the aircraft, bros at the bar.) 
• Intergrated Web Flight Log - Log your time, TO/LD, weapon deliveries and more. - Track your hours - virtual sorties, sims, and events. 
• Airframe History - You log hours but so do our aircraft... An extra incentive to plan and execute realistic air operations. Adds pucker factor to the ALR - High/ Extreme sorties... once an aircraft is lost... its lost forever. With its shared history, successes and failures. RIP F16CM 91-097
• Currency Trackers - RAP / Proficiency 
• Custom F-16C DTC software - to include planning tools and future support for other aircraft. 
• Detailed documentation, publications, and training materials. - (Working to bring more of this material to the public)
• Training Cycle and Deployment Cycle - A detailed schedule which repeats on a two-year timeframe. (Each 'focus' is approximately 4 months long.) (Community Driven Dynamic Campaigns and Wargames)
• Simple and easy to use mod management through OMM.
• Joint Ops with other communities... Large Force Exercises - Opportunities to develop package leadership skills. 
• ATC - inhouse ATC squadron - AACS - ABM / WD via LotAtc
• US and EU times supported - Not just a US based community! 
• Edit: Dedicated Servers with server side tacview recording enabled - save on frames. 

Supported Aircraft

We are willing to support the full spectrum of western airpower across various time periods so long as the platforms meet our requirements for function / serviceability, and we have members capable and willing to train and employ the platforms. At this stage we are in the process of building and support or have plans to support the following DCS and community platforms. A-4E, A-10C II, F-4E, F-16C/D, F-15E, F/A-18C, HH-60G, C-130J, MC-130, and community T-38A/C. We are also investigating opportunities for other helicopter platforms such as the OH-58, UH-1H, and CH-47. If you have an interest in joining an established squadron or desire to join the development or investigation of such opportunities, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Training

Whether you are a military or commercial pilot, sim enthusiast or a newbie, we have something for you. We offer flexible training tracks which ensures we develop our virtual pilots to the same core standard. The general 'Path to Wings' Program is highlighted below.

• Informal Interview, Assessment, and Dollar Ride - Ensures we are the right fit for you, and you for us.

• Initial Qualification Training (IQT) - Learn to employ your aircraft tactically. Various tracks - (long track nearly 50-60 sim and sortie rides) - read about the F-16C IQT here: F-16 - v455AEW - Training Overview | 455th Virtual Air Expeditionary Wing
• Mission Qualification Training (MQT) Learn to employ your aircraft tactically in your units' assigned missions.  (F-16Cs in the 561 vFS - a focus on SEAD and counter air) (A-10Cs in 75th vFS a focus on CSAR, and CAS). etc.
• Continuation Training - Ready Aircrew Program to maintain currency.
• Upgrade Training - FLUG, WIC, MC, etc. etc.
• Other Offerings - vTES Squadrons - Conducting Adversary Aircraft Exploitation, vAGRS - Conducting credible red air.  etc. etc. 

Our Bottom Line

Just like it says in our entry requirements, be a good dude or dudette. We are not impressed by big egos. Our training pipeline is tested and proven to take anyone, regardless of experience, and develop them into capable virtual pilots. It's about attitude and willingness to embrace the process.  We know this not for everyone, and that's okay. Our philosophy is simple, build a strong community focused on realism in which we can share these virtual experiences and have fun as a group without dealing with egos, tyrants or drama.

When are your wing wide coordinated mission nights/days & official hornet training?

We use an availability tracker to adjust based on member preference. It changes depending on the time of year.

Generally, official flight nights have been on Wednesday nights.  ~ 2100Zulu for EU and ~2300 Zulu for US.  Pickup flights at other times throughout the week. Joint EU / US events on weekends.  (Depends on weekend but normally Saturday times have been as early as 1400Z and as late as 2100Z).   
 

Hornet training would require special considerations currently so best to coordinate via discord.
