DCS restart after changing controls settings and screens messed up. (Not critical)

Just asking, it's not a huge issue.  Just curious is this is behavior which is 'normal' or if there is a work around.

I run 5 displays with MDFs below main screen. The 4th screen (number 2 in windows) is not used in DCS, I just have TrackIR and VoiceAttack open on it.

When I fire up SimAppPro the displays get set correctly and all the items are green.

Then from main menu on DCS, not in a running SIM, when I edit the controls and save, the game closes and restarts.   This appears to be normal behavior, because you can change more game items from this first menu such as video or audio settings and I understand a restart of the game is needed, this is typical of most games.

However, when it restarts, the main screen then goes across all the MDF screens also (and the menus are hard to use as they are scattered across the small MDF displays), so I have to use the "close window" command via the lower icon bar on the 5th screen to force DCS to close.  Then I can open SimAppPro and hit "apply" on the bottom MDF item (which is now red), and run DCS normally.

Of course if I adjust a control while in the sim (on a mission etc) I can change a control, save the profile and just return to the Sim.  It is only when I am not in the SIM just after starting DCS and going to the control settings to edit a switch or what not.

Is this a typical experience other have who are running MDF screens???

Not typical no.  I recall having seen someone else in the forums that had a similar issue.  Can't remember what their solution was.

I figure it is some setting in SimAppPro, but as it's easily fixed, I have not probed deeper.  I was just adjusting some controls a few minutes ago and figured I'd ask.  Not a big deal.
