AlpineGTA Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 It's great to see Normandy 2 receiving updates. I really hope that the optimization sees a big performance improvement. London and Paris look great but at the moment this map by far has the worst performing fps for me, particularly over these city regions. 1 i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
Holbeach Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) I wonder if they have flattend RAF Deanland runway bump, bug reported 18 months ago. .. motoadve Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Beautiful updates to the map, thank you, also much better performance. Just a small tiny detail French flag should not be waving in June 1944,as France was still under Nazi regime. 2

I'm disappointed that the optimization doesn't appear to have improved performance at all for me. I'm only getting a stuttering 20 odd - 30 odd fps when flying low (in VR), particularly over London and Paris. By comparison, using the same settings, I get a nice smooth 60fps flying low over the Syria map and it looks great and is very enjoyable to fly on. I really hope they can make further optimization improvements to the Normandy map. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

In fact I've noticed more stuttering etc when looking at various angles especially heading East along the south coast looking North. This is on an nVme drive too

I was flying low over the Sinai map the other day with a low sun at sunset and I noticed when looking left at the buildings illuminated in a red/orange light by the sun, I was experiencing stuttering, but when I looked right at the buildings that were not illuminated, there was no stuttering. I'm guessing it's something to do with the extra GPU load needed to calculate the light and shadows on ground objects. I haven't had time to test this yet on other maps and other lighting conditions, but anyway that's another issue. Just thought I'd mention it as an aside. 1 i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

Definitely worse performance for me over all 1
