speed up aircraft repair - why do we need to wait???

When I need to repair my aircraft, I first had to shut down the engines and then wait 2-3 Minutes until the repair procedure begins - why?

Is it a penalty for damaging the aircraft?

It is faster for me, to leave the slot and start with a new plane / new slot.

Also, would be great, if we could speed up refueling a bit.

Not saying this is a correct fix for this from ED, perhaps you could use the fast forward function in the game to get past the long wait.

well is surly is not the best way of doing it. I think in some Szenarios it is ok to wait. A bit of punishment is needet 🙂 those Aircraft are expensive you know .)

in some of my mission there is no respawn. You get damaged an manage to get back fine. but you can not just jump in a nem craft. 🙂 But thats just a matter of opinnion i think 🙂

for refuling, thats not that unrealistic as i know. different pumps an inlets of crafts, think this is done nicly 🙂

I guess the whole repair mechanics will have a crucial impact when Dynamic Campaign become available. Current 2-3 min repair is gamey/WT-ish placeholder.

It will take hours or days in game time - when player will immediately jump in another operational aircraft and scramble - or take off in lightly shoot A-10 or Su-25. Not magically "repaired" in 2-3 minutes.

2-3 minutes is already vastly faster than anything approaching realistic.

Arguably slotting into a new aircraft is more realistic than a magical arcade-ish 3 minute repair.

DCS' ghostly ground crew is wicked quick.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

+1 I know it's not realistic speeding up the wait times, but many of us don't have all the free time to be playing a "waiting simulator". As it stands now, I can respawn (explode) my plane and fully start it back up again faster than I can be rearmed and refueled. If this is done, please allow servers the option to "opt-out" of the faster waiting times, or write their own conditions/time-to-wait to make it even more realistic (e.g. even longer wait than standard/no repairing), if that is what the server chooses. Thanks!
