Schismatrix Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Hey guys Trying to come up with some close-to-reality binds for the F-15C. Seems like the stick is mainly set up to enable ACM modes (radar/IR), so how would the real pilot enter BVR/LRS modes? Somewhere on the panels? Also, it does not look like there are any buttons on the throttle relevant to weapons modes. Only TDC slew and locking on. The stick itself have a few interesting buttons (see attached diagram): Auto-acquisition (AACQ) switch: What does A/A supersearch mean? Not implemented in this model? What does "Return radar to search mode" do? Is it just unlocking targets? "Select boresight" I assume is the same as pressing "4" in the standard binds Seems like the nose gear steering button is used for short-range missile modes? (caged/uncaged). It all seems wildly different to how it is done in the Mig-29 for example. There you have a simple selector switch that cycles through all your modes. Thanks!
MAXsenna Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Haven't read the manual in a while, but IIRC the mappings as the real thing were pretty much explained there. I have mapped it as close to the real thing as I can on my Warthog, so it's fine. EDIT: Shame. I thought it was the E. Just noticed it's the C. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Super search mode is missing in our DCS F-15C FC. Return to search is your basic lock off and go RWS. Boresight needs no explanation. NGS as described. There's no simple BVR/WVR switch in RL F-15C - you just select weapons mode Guns/SRM/MRM on the throttle switch and other radar options/modes on the left console or AutoAcq modes as desired. There are also many more functions/options for radar in RL aircraft on the console. You probably has the other page with throttle depicted so there are also: mic switch (we have one "radio" as easy comms menu), speed brake, missile reject switch (we have only undesignate function), multi function switch (not implemented, maybe only boresight mode), TDC, ECM dispenser (we have keys for flare/chaff/both and ECM on/off) and antenna elevation + rudder trim, flap switch and finger lifts for thrtottle left/right (not implemented). Oh that's great info thanks. Really seems a different philosophy than eastern jets and almost feels "messy" in comparison. However I have no doubt that it probably feels intuitive after a while!

For western jets it's more aggressive/offensive and active searching is big part of that. For eastern jets it's more defensive and more catered for GCI interceptions. You can learn and get used to any of them after hours of training. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Rift S T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
