DISCORD

All participants need to join the DCS Competitive Discord. This discord will be used to have the Competitor Briefings, convey future information, scheduling, and rules for all combatants as well as provide a place for general conversation about the event. YOU MUST BE IN THIS DISCORD IF YOU WISH TO COMPETE!

 SCRIPT

All competitors will be required to download a small lua script file and place it in your Saved Games\<your DCS>\Scripts\Hooks\ folder. The script allows the server to automatically spawn you into your chosen aircraft. This will be utilized in multiple ways in this event. You will NOT be able to register without the script installed, and you will not be able to compete without it. More information about this will be found in the Discord.

 STREAMING

Cap from the Grim Reapers will be streaming the Semi Finals, Bronze and Gold Finals LIVE and a few random matches across the other 3 days. https://www.twitch.tv/grimreaperscap
Other streams of matches will be announced in the discord.

 TACVIEWS

Tacviews will be in a repository with the link found in discord. They should be available shortly after all the matches of that server Heat/Round are complete.

 MATCHING

A bespoke system has been built to assist in the management and matching of competitors. As a single elimination competition, the preliminary round is to get the numbers into the highest power of 2 lower than the number of competitors. Should there be a large turnout, these will be divided into heats, players randomly matched with each other and posted into the Matches channel in Discord.

Players that don’t find themselves matched here are automatically in Round 1. This is the last time anyone gets a free ‘walk’ to the next round, unless there are no shows in prelim.

Second Life is a new term for potentially a few already eliminated players. In the event of a ‘no show’, that competitor is completely out, and a Second Life opponent is summoned to that server and match.

The system works with a Winners table and a Losers table of the previous round.

Each new Round randomly pairs players from the Winners table.

Competitors have 5 minutes from the Discord post of their match to get to the Server and Slot in their chosen aircraft, else they are eliminated. The 5 minutes is expected to drop to 3 minutes as the tournament progresses but will not be unreasonable.

 EVENT RULES

  • 1v1 is 1 player versus 1 other player, no multicrew option.

  • Matches are best of 3, bronze and gold Finals are best of 5.

  • Players may not change aircraft type between Match Rounds but may change them for the next Elimination Round.

  • While you start on the ground, when both players are in, they will automatically be spawned into the air after a 10 second count down.

  • A Dead or ejected pilot will wait to see if his opponent has landed and then it repeats.

  • Killing your opponent will only secure you the round if you land and stop on the MARKED runway. Always centre of the Combat Zone.

  • Scoring is automated.

  • You will receive a visual and audible warning if you are close to exiting the Combat Zone.

  • Flying out of the Combat Zone will destruct your aircraft

  • Starting distance will be 10nm from each other head-on

  • A straight and level FIRST MERGE is required by both pilots for as close of a neutral merge as possible. After FIRST MERGE, the fight will be on and manoeuvring is free.

  • Combatants are free to adjust speed at will and be as slow or fast as desired at the FIRST MERGE.

  • No head-on shots pre FIRST MERGE. Weapons hold until after the first pass.

  • Fuel dumping is not allowed.

  • Definition of FIRST MERGE: when either fighter passes the other fighter's 3/9 line.

  • Extending away from the fight for the purpose of resetting to a new merge, or to attempt to reacquire a lost tally, is allowed. However, extending purely to drag out the fight and play fuel games is highly discouraged and such passive tactics may end up in disqualification, this will ultimately be decided by the Tournament Director and/or review from the Tacview file.

  • If there is significant damage to your jet, fully passive and defensive tactics are OK.

  • All aircraft will start with full internal gun and no other weapons.

  • Fuel for each aircraft has been calculated based on time maintaining max AoA sustained turns at low altitude in full gate. These fuel loads will allow all aircraft to stay gate for similar time frames.

  • F/A18c: meddling with circuit breakers is forbidden and Spin Recovery Switch is only for attempted recovery from departure.

  • F-16C: Manual Pitch Override is only for deep stall recovery, for snap shots its forbidden.

  • M2000c: Emergency fly-by-wire mode (GAIN-CDVE) is forbidden and using Spin Recovery mode (VRILLE) is only to recover from departure.

  • Errors and omissions are excluded

Good luck to all the competitors and thank you!
