What would you guys think about a UAV Predator Sim?

I was just thinking about it, if there was a good UAV Predator sim, it would really pretty much provide the exact same experience as a UAV operator. You sit there with your controls looking at your screen, operating the UAV.

So after thinking about this I wanted to bring it up here and see what all of you guys think.

Dont let the smell get to ya...............

The current flight sims are doing the exactly same thing:)

For instance, fly a mig-29 in Lock-On and suppose that you are flying the real thing from your office like a UAV operator and the actual real thing flies out there:)

If it interfaces/interacts with your teammates flying a DCS:Apache (or DCS:A10) mission, it could be interesting.

As a stand alone sim, it would pretty much need to simulate the work environment that the pilot is in... all the various communications possibilties, and maybe your buddy handing you a fresh coffee to keep your eyelids open. ;)

Throw in the elusive dynamic campaign, and maybe a dash of the woosie CinC making the rules of engagement more restrictive...

I think it would be hard to find the right formula to make it commercially viable. Going Arcade-ish would get more action in for the ADHD crowd, but could you really make it enough action for them? Probably not. Do it as a proper study sim, and it would most likely be pretty boring in short order. I guess that could be somewhat mitigated by time acceleration options, etc., but selling enough copies to warrant the work... seems like a tough call on a stand-alone sim. As an add-on to existing sim software, where the programmers can utilize the existing software engine, tweak an existing flight model, and cobble up a pilot console to replace the usual cockpit... with the ability to interact in multi-player... I think that could be a market-able add-on product. (Maybe an add-on to the Lock On sims?)

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Kinda like flying for the airlines... Or even a ferry mission from LFI -> UAB

But I do get to refuel a couple of times... LOL!!

It would be nice to have use of UCAV's and UAV data

in a sim. It would be sweet!

Sitting there for 8 hours watching a screen where the autopilot flies the UAV, fantastic ! :D

My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

To replicate that, just buy any modern flight sim that contains flying buses, aka as passenger jets :)

Some fly on AP from just after Take off to just after touchdown.

Yeah I think you guys are right, I dont really think its a viable idea, but it could be interesting anyway......maybe......

I think I remember reading a long while back that once the apache and warthog are released that the predators will be able to provide data to those aircraft, you guys know if thats true?, or did i just dream that i read that?

Things to do other than experiencing UAV flights could be based on radar/gps tracking or relevant logistics like AWACS, ATC, EWR.

This is what it takes for a flight simulation just to get rolling and it doesn’t cover the flight in terms of fuel, payload or the task:

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
