totally different circumstances regarding f35 and pak-fa.. in US its actually a messed up design that shows and nobody can argue against this.. and no money problem financing this disaster no matter how many "faults" they find.. in Russia completely different picture, its a sound design with great characteristics as it is, but problem financing due to financial war of the west on Russia.. so it makes sense to scale back-tactical retreat-to survive another day.. pak-fa is not needed on frontlines, .. if there is a war pak-fa or no pak-fa it won't make difference for anybody ..nor west nor RF.. as weapons that would be used are stealth immune and are mostly radioactive in nature..

...but problem financing due to financial war of the west on Russia..

There has been no word on scaling down on any funding for R&D which is what is important right now anyway. T-50 is obviously a very important program and although there has been a 4% cut in MoD funding it is extremely unlikely they have made any cuts on T-50 for now. They are just re-evaluating numbers they will buy between 2016 and 2020.

And borderline political claim; but it is not like Russia didn't manage to get into a "financial war" themselves.

Err yes they can, and easily. The argument against the F-35 is building one airframe for three services with different requirements.

But that argument has to do with the cost of the aircraft, and not whether the design is 'messed up' or not.

Your sentence here doesn't even make any sense. The F-35 is not any different than any cutting-edge fighter design ... it is facing the same problems that were historically faced by previous designs ... in ANY country.

If it makes no difference, why even begin designing it? In fact, get rid of the air force all together ... huge savings!

@gg.. every project has "difficulties" .. what F35 has is beyond "difficulties" which even engineers who did it and managers who managed the project ADMIT.. you trying to change that narrative that developers themselves admit is beyond futile and silly..

to say RF should disband all air force just because they can't afford to pump 200 Pak-fa or that it has PROBLEMS which are SAME as F35 is ludicrous at best .. issue of technical miscalculation which f35 is becoming to lack of funds that pak-fa is becoming is two world apart..

so far nothing shows to disastrous engineering feat f35 did to pak fa or any other plane in history of mankind.. not in scale nor in number of engineers/countries/finance involved..

Did you even read what I wrote?

All modern aircraft are coming to 'lack of funds'. Did you not notice?

There was nothing disastrous about F-35 engineering. That's your big mistake. Your other mistake is not knowing the historical fighter development cost growth. The F-35 is very close to that curve.

We have seen that a jack of all A/c usually isn't a good design. Those A/c that are made specialist with option of other duties have been a success. They say F-35 is awesome is A-A, excellent in A-G, nightmare in SEAD and more and what it actually is a meager C- in all tasks.

Well structurally F-35 isn't cutting edge and if its so good electronically why even boast about F-22.

You don't get sarcasm, do you?

Same here.

After I loaded them manually once (quote post, copy image link and paste it into the browser's address bar), they display fine, though.

Does the original site have some kind of embedding block? I don't think it's my AdBlock causing this.

Now it's working for me as well, also tested in 4 different browsers.

The problem originally occurred to me in Firefox 41 about half an hour ago. Maybe the server suffered from a temporary problem.

In any case, as far as I can tell all is good now. :)

So he's pretty much saying the new AESA is not as good as Irbis?

Where does he say that ?

Q/ Could you compare the AESA with the Tikhomirov-NIIP Bars and Irbis phased array radars equipping the Su-30 and Su-35 fighters?

A/ To date, we have been flight-testing the AESA in the operating modes that had been implemented in our previous radars, and it has proved to be as good as they are in terms of performance and far more reliable than its predecessors were at the same development stage. However, the AESA has got many operating modes inapplicable to the traditional phased array.

So it does what the Irbis could do as well as the Irbis, but is more reliable and has modes available that the Irbis doesn't ...

Cheers.

The official designation of the T-50 will be Su-57. Has a nice ring to it. :)
