Racer_Rob
hey, I've been Falcon 4.0 Allied Force a lot but I'm finding the graphics (besides those in the cockpit) abit ...dull now, so was after some advice on what new sim to go for. I came to this forum because I found DCS Black Shark (which looks awesome) but I've never used a helo sim before. Just wondering if Lock On is worth considering as well? Does it come with the same ultra-detail everything is clickable type interface as you get with falcon 4 and DCS? or is it better to just go for the newer DCS, enjoy the helo and wait for jet addons? Thanks for any advice!
JG14_Smil
Hello, LO looks alot like BS when flying. The cockpits are not as clickable in LO as in BS. BS netcode is very good with exellent MP, which I love. Flying a helo is very, very fun and the learning curve of BS will keep you running to your computer every chance you get, so the choice is obvious... buy both. It is very subjective, but I have always liked LO/BS sims over the F4 approach to simming. good luck,
Racer_Rob
Thanks for the help, I've just seen I can get lock on at my local game shop for just £4.99 so I might just get both! Final question, if lock on flaming cliffs is there for an equally attractive price is that a worth-while addon? I've also seen lock on gold, but apparently that had some technical problems, what extra does gold give you? cheers
EtherealN
I dunno about gold, but Flaming Cliffs is an absolute must-buy. The T version 25 is a fabulous bird to fly and it uses an updated flight model compared to the basic LO. joey45
only some of the GOLD discs were damaged... if you are unfortant enough to get one then just take it back and THEY WILL REPLACE it. you need LOMAC to play FC so get the bundle. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Boulund
I'd also say buy them both. Have played LockOn since it came out way back and bought Flaming Cliffs recently ($14.95 is an absolute bargain on http://www.lockon.co.uk). Been on DCS Black Shark since december last year as well and I can't imagine my life without these two sims =) Core i5-760 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB DDR3, Geforce GTX470, Samsung SATA HDD, Dell UH2311H 1920x1080, Saitek X52 Pro., FreeTrack homemade cap w/ LifeCam VX-1000, Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1. Final question, if lock on flaming cliffs is there for an equally attractive price is that a worth-while addon? I've also seen lock on gold, but apparently that had some technical problems, what extra does gold give you? cheers Lockon Flaming Cliffs (FC) as a single disk addon was never released in stores so you will not find it in the same store that you found Lockon. It is only sold through online specialist stores like http://www.simw.com or http://www.rcsimulations.co.uk etc and through the http://www.lockon.co.uk website. Lockon GOLD was sold in regular stores and is a 2 disk pack containing both the vanilla Lockon disk and the FC disk. There wer a number of GOLD packs that had a faulty FC disk. I believe they were all in the US and that European GOLD packs (which were released somewhat later) were all OK. Joey_45 is only partially correct when he says that faulty GOLD disks wil be replaced. The GOLD publishers (Evolved Games) gave the task of handling the replacement disk issue to a PR company in the US. I read on another Forum months ago that the PR company have now run out of replacement disks so if you get a bad GOLD then you are out of luck. That situation will doubtless not change since it is years since GOLD was released by Evolved. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
