Ok, so I just found out why my engines burn out via reading another thread (going ham on the rpm and boost management instead of using the correct power) However Restarting the engine is the problem im having. If I'm high enough, I Will try to use the pump choke 5 times. I also pull back the mixture control to idle, restart both magneto switches and push the starter and boost coil, but nothing. Am I thinking that the engine is well and truly fried and i either need to ditch or bail? Or is there an extended procedure to get it going again? I know prevention is better than cure, but the more you know, the less planes you lose during the battle of britain

If it goes out for any reason other than fuel starvation (which in DCS can be a result of either drop tank mismanagement or trying to fly too high with booster pump off), then yes, it's really dead, period.

Healthy engine which was turned off by mistake in air doesn't require any voodoo to restart. Windmilling prop + fuel on (mixture included) + magnetos on is all what's needed.

Yeah those things are portrayed in Hollywood movies like engine stops rotating when low on fuel or something and switching every thing back and forth helps restart engine again.

In air if nothing serious happens to engine  and engine isn't seized up it will wind mill due to air passing through propeller even if engine produce no power at all.

If engine is seized up it is over, nothing you can do about that in air.

Press the starter motor button. If the engine doesn't turn over, it's seized and your only options are a forced landing or bailing out.
