After starting DCS, there is one minute with periodic stuttering since 2.9.15. Visible on graph.

Problem still persisting after yesterday's patch...

Why is no official person responding to this thread? I've just spend another 150€ on DCS during the last Steam sale and now I am stuck with ~7 to 10 minute long boot times...

Long boot times is often related to your Anti-virus scanning stuff as it's loading in.

Have you read the rest of this thread? Long boot times is only the start of this mess. And yeah, that could also be related to a anti-virus program but let's not kid ourselves, it's the usual excuse nowadays. And in most cases, it turns out the anti-virus got nothing to do with it.

Just spent half an hour to update all my drivers, clean up my "Saved Games" folder, i.e. deleting all mods, still the same problem persists that just began occuring literally over night. <profanity> this. I've got little very free time currently and bugfixing a problem that most likely isn't even on my end to begin with (source: see all the other people reporting the same problem with very different systems) just feels like a dumb decision right now. I would just like to play the content I've paid 150€ two weeks ago?

Sure, the other stuff is likely something different.  But exactly what did ED do to change your DCS between yesterday and today?  So why are you automatically assuming it's ED's fault that it's now taking so long to load in?

DCS is preloading All modules when starting up. Before it loaded when selected in game.

To fix it navigate to \DCS World\Config folder and open main_autoexec.cfg. At line 28 comment it out "--bkg_load_all_plugins = true", or set false.

Then it loads as normal 🙂

Or just add "bkg_load_all_plugins = false" to you normal autoexec.cfg in savedgames\dcs\config

I haven't tried Fix yet, but in general I see that the problem still occurs after the last update. Anyway, it was finally accepted and apparently a solution is on the way:

This topic is discussed in many threads, but it's hard to say whether it has been noticed properly. Currently, from 2-3 patches, the situation related to closing DCS does not look too good. After clicking "Quit to desktop", it takes quite a long time, sometimes even over a minute or more. It has never been like this, and the exit was immediate. Interestingly, my friend has the same problem. Sometimes I just force minimize DCS and start doing other things, and DCS is still grinding away in the background.

i definitely see the longer quit times. not a real issue for me.

For me too, but it can be a bit annoying. I fly in VR and I don't really want to turn off the headset when DCS is still on the screen. I can live with it as well, but I think it's worth solving it along with the problem with loading missions. I think these things are related.

it has been like this since last few patches

null

I just ALT + TAB and then kill it in task manager .......... which makes it exit instantly ............. instead of the minute or so of it fumbling about before exiting

I have the same issue, but I'm also not in a pure rush so I just wait it out, but good to know it's not just me.

I solved this issue on my side. problem started after flashing my motherboard bios to the latest version. (I remembered everything worked fine the day before)

after flashing it back to the previous version everything went back to normal. no more long closing times for DCS and microstutter disappeared.

Just updated to latest  bug fix. For both my client, and my dedicated server.

All good, almost all stutter gone (just a bit on first taxi for a few dozen feet)! Running normal frames now, capped at 90 FPS below Monitor refresh of 165. My dedicated server is running MIST, and various code options for polygonal spawn areas, and AI units. Was a stuttery mess last two patches. Now the server is smooth, and my client is smooth.

Thanks ED!

Yes, this is good workaround. This is the first thing worth checking instead of drivers, memory, mods and God knows what else ;).

However now it is: bkg_load_signed_plugins = true, we havent here "all".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

💥 Since I don't want to interfere with the original files, I personally recommend adding this entry to:

  • C:\Users\xvy\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config
  • go to autoexec.cfg (or create it), add this new line:
  • bkg_load_signed_plugins = false

DCS is back to normal (no stutters at the beginning, fast saving, even the exit is immediate ect).

Btw. You can use my file as well:

autoexec.cfg

Hi @YoYo, thanks.  A quick question the following options:

bkg_load_all_plugins = false

with:

bkg_load_signed_plugins = false

What are differences?

Thanks.

Not currently "all" commands in the main_autoexec.cfg file. I suspect that "all" applies to all modules, while "signed" applies to separate paid ones. I use "signed" and it works without any problems. All problems are gone and I don't see any side effects.

I timed my DCS closing ................. it takes 30 seconds which is insane amount of time

CONTROL + ALT + DELETE - then start task manager , kill the DCS process and it exits instantly

I will ask the team about this, but it is also worth mentioning real time antivirus can also create issues that prevent a fast closing of DCS, its worth checking by excluding the DCS install from the scans.
