New Start up HOTAS company WYRIX

Hi Guys,

A Polish company wants to break into the HOTAS market. Think they are looking for backers.

The Throttle seems like a niche idea with the longer "Throw"  will probably need another desk to lay the Throttle on as it looks HUGE!

I see red flags all over the place, from the absurd 'American' marketing full of exaggerations and nonsense everywhere, to the fact that they chose a name that is already taken in the com domain and not registered in the pl or eu domain (showing a lack of due diligence). So only back it if you are fine with losing the money and not ending up with a product.

The interesting parts that I see:

• Using a magnetic connector that is probably non-indexed for the joystick. This means that you can choose any angle to connect it, you don't have a DIN-connector that can break, and you can connect/remove the grip very fast. Moza also uses a connection that doesn't need to be plugged in. However, it is unfortunate that they didn't show it more close up in the video.
• A rail-based, linear throttle, which doesn't exist yet in the high-end.
• Using an electric motor for the detents.

VKB has promised us a rail-based version of the STECS with electric detents, but that could be years out. That said, I'd prefer to get one from an established brand like VKB over this company.

For me a small red flag would be calling a mount unique when it's a monstertech with their logo stamped on. If the uniqueness is in hole set up then it's another small red flag.

The linear throttle is an interesting concept. However I see some red flags due it's design complexity and size. >500mm is a huge thing on your desk or arm rest.

I thought that it is just a generic chinesium clamp with their logo. There are a ton of these already on the Internet I doubt that Monstertech would allow rebrandings.

If it's FFB that's enough space for actuators

It certainly is more for the somewhat more 'dedicated' simpits, I myself made 50cm+ USB button panels

All in all it seems expensive for cam base and grip and throttle that don't have a proper sim to use them in, no other planes besides F35 have this HOTAS so that's a little odd to shell out that much without an F35 even on the horizon

yeah i agree.  For someone faithfully married to the f35, as some are in love with the f16, i could kind of understand the interest in it

As much as i'd love another competitor in the market, I think the force feedback products will make this market obsolete

As what has  already been pointed out there will be a very small market for this device.

But on "HIND" sight it may work well as a Helo Collective!

Hell, Star Citizen might even be released prior to VKB releasing their linear throttle

Looked at modding my Orion2 with such things to create auto-throttle functionality

 

I'll admit I'm not their market, but wish them the best

Personally, I think offering this 'on-demand' to any fans would be a bit safer than trying to create a mass product with help of crowd funding

Not saying it isn't possible, but looking at the current commercial market and its players, it's gonna be tough to get in at high end
