Pretty Big News for the Future

Recommended Posts

Judging by the planes Igor mentioned, non of these points is a problem.

MFD -> F-16, MiG-29K

A2G radar -> F-16, MiG-29K

Two seaters -> AH-64, Mi-28

So all these functions seems to be planed for the future.

None of them are impossible with new code. I'm confident that ED will accomodate all these areas, eventually.

Yeah thats the hard part, you could make an educated guess and combine some of the F-16s modes for certain weapons and use that until such information should ever be released and then patch it. eg the CCIP/CCRP and DTOS methods would be pretty much the same. Same goes for AA modes since they both fire the same missiles. This way both the F-16 pilots and the Hornet pilots are still required to perform the same functions regardless as there are no short cuts this way. The good thing here is you have the startup process and shut down. All of the important stuff that would make it the equivalent of an F-16 at Falcon 4s level. The weapons will always be difficult to get information for but that wouldn't stop you with this approach since the rest of the pit is 100% on the money.

Sorry to interupt your little war(Mig-29K vs F-16) people but I Have a couple comments I want to make on the Mig-31 in the game as it is. In Lock On as it is you can equip a Mig-31 with four R-33's and two R-40's, I think this is an innacurate loadout as the Mig-31 has to carry a controller to launch the R-40's which takes up one of the R-33 bays meaning only three R-33's can be carried with two R-40's on the wings. Also as I am sure many of you know in 1985 Alexander Tolkachev was discovered selling radar secrets to the west and subsiquently the RADAR on the Mig-31 was changed improvements being incorperated into the Mig-31B production series and the Mig-31BS upgrade, which version of the Mig-31 is in this game? I can't tell from the model if it has a fuel probe so it could be a Mig-31A, 'B or 'BS I think so which one is it supposed to be?

As weird as this may sound, I'd actually like to fly a heavy in Lo-Mac, someday. Say, a special ops C-130, dropping off paratroopers low-level.

I agree that would be a lot of fun for some of us. For a start an unloaded Herc is great to fly as well judging by the airshow routines I've seen... massive power to weight ratio when empty. But I would settle for being able to support such aircraft in missions using the flyable aircraft we already have. It needs to be as part of an improved gameplay engine though.

If we could task Hercules' to land and drop off troops & vehicles to take over a target (airbase etc) while ground forces attacked by road, then fly escort missions while the Hercs resupplied & strengthened the base before moving on to the next target, life would get *very* interesting indeed. Throw this into a multiplayer scenario with guys defending the skies over us and...

Oh dear, look at me dreaming the next decade away!

I could live forever without another flyable aircraft. What I need are good reasons to fly the ones we have already. EECH came close to achieving this style of involving gameplay. I just wish Razorworks would get their act together and stop making money on Xbox titles. Who needs cash anyway? ;-)

Oh! I almost forgot!

this is to OLGERD and the others:

What radar you guys are thinking to model the F-16?

Since it will be F-16 block 50/52 there are 2 choices, APG-66(V2) and APG-68.

They have different capabilities the one I think the most important is multitarget engaging capability. The APG-66(V2) can do 2 simultaneous AMRAAM attacks in TWS while APG-68 cand do 4.

what gives?

We are thinking about APG-68 at first.

It will give the F-16 an edge :D yay, but if you dont find enough data on it then you wont go wrong with the APG-66(V2) .

I would love to fire 4 simultaneous AMRAAM's on the F-16, but a cutback to the APG-66(V2) in my view is acceptable too. ;)

Call me silly, but that actualy sounds like a pretty cool idea for me. Think about putting a C-130 down on some tiny improved landing strip. With the new physic model this would be quite a challange. ED just would have to include enough of short, dusty, rocky strips. STOL operations and "bushflying" have always fascinated me.

I know it will never happen, it's still fun to think about it :)

as far as I know, AIM-9x isnt going to be modeled as its too new to be very well known. Same for the russian missile. Its probably be plain AIM-9M+R-73

Bump.

Still waiting for an answer on european planes. The Viggen and Mirage 2000-5 are BEGGING to be made flyables.

Yeah, at Mach 3 and 80 000ft, the current theatre isn't no where near big enough to make an interesting mission. Furthermore, we're going to need some better missile modelling - there's no point in flying an SR-71 when an S300 can engage and kill them as if they were flying at 20 000 ft.

like all of such manuals, it doesn't describes avionics...

"There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Olgerd commented earlier in this thread that they don't have any references for the Mirage 2000 ( yet? ).

What are the chances of having flyables F-5E and A-7E?

They'd be nice, wouldn't they? :D

Along with a MiG-21 and 23 (Maybe a 27 for CAS type stuff?)

Jep, the A-7 is still THE carrier strike fighter for me.

Ah, MiG-21, 23, 27, Su-17... 1980s scenario is the way to go :)

Btw, the Viggen is very cool too. The first "look down/shoot down" fighter if I remember correctly. Those Swedes know how to build fighters !
