ECTAE Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) While attempting to perform a best-rate turn at 900 km/h, the AOA indicator became stuck after a few turns, resulting in loss of valid AOA readings resulting in the loss of angle-of-attack limit protection. Is this a modeled feature or a system malfunction? I was unable to find any reference regarding operational limitations in the manual. Kola Map. OAT=-2ºc so its not very cold. Bremspropeller Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Is that with pitot heat engaged? So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!

Xander8912 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Hello, I experience the same issue on a test mission I made. I suspect temperature playing a role in that, it was -2°C and a few minutes after take off, the AoA needle freeze anytime I played it. I change meteo to 15°C and the problem disappeared. Everytime played with pitot heat on of course.
ECTAE Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 Yes AOA vane freeze is a real thing but I doubt the Mikoyan design bureau didn't take into account the operating temperature on the Mig29. With a stuck AOA sensor, you're not able to perform high AOA turns, best rate turn, and also AFCS protections stop working. 1
CF104 Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I've experienced the same in the Instant Action, cold and dark flight. Regards, John
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I have also experienced this, but only after I forgot to turn on pitot heat. I’ll see if I can see it again with it turned on. Osrac Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Yup experienced this on MP servers in cold weather conditions on Caucases, both in under hot and cold start settings. Makes for annoying landings considering the drifty wheel physics of the Fulcrum.
YoYo Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I can confirm this too. It's been like this since the very beginning, and sometimes AoA just doesn't work. I have no idea what's causing it yet. ECTAE Posted Thursday at 10:12 AM Author Posted Thursday at 10:12 AM Nope, and still happening. They don't need any more track. Only using their own module. If you takeoff and do some turns you'll see by yourself. This plane is kind of a mess right now. Every update you got a surpise.
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted Thursday at 10:27 AM Posted Thursday at 10:27 AM Yes and it happens in the default hot start IA missions too. 1 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON
