asa1997 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 i think it would be great if there was a ka-52 for single player and co-op. it probably wouldn't cost too much time and money to develop since it is very similar to the ka50 and would new players get familiar with the flying and weapons. they could sell it for about $15, and it would be a great way to support E.D. and allow them to make more money.

The Ka-52 as seen in military use today is a far more modern and advanced helicopter than the Ka-50, and different from the old Ka-50 concept as well. Further, documentation regarding the Ka-52 is classified, so it isn't going to happen. mjolner Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Kind of OT, but have you seen the Ka52 in ARMA 2, not a sim in the DCS sense of the word of course but its still great fun. I made a single player mission where a marine rifle squad captures a communciations array and later has to defend. A pair of Ka-52s rise up above the tree line and attack their position, pretty fun to see it from the other perspective. You can "fly" the thing too but after playing Black Shark its pretty silly. It has a cockpit with glass panels but its pretty simplistic though trackir compatible. One other note, the 3D model and sound are quite exceptional. Edited August 29, 2009 by mjolner
bumfire Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Instead of a KA52, I think ED should of gave us the KA50 with the samshite night targetting device's so that we can use the helo at night properly. I know, I want to much, but I have always thought that we got the wrong version of helo, it would of been much better for the scope of playability had we got the night capable KA50 instead. Just my thoughts thats all.

I was merely pointing out that from a playability perspective that the night version would of been better since atm we are basically limited to flying within a 12 hour and less time window depending on the time of the year, i.e during daylight hours. If we had access to the samshite version then it would open up an entirely new arena to which to fly and fight in. I know ED stick to in-service aircraft to model, but as pointed out previously, I merely mentioned, as in my opinion and we are all allowed one, that the night capable version of the KA50 would of been the better choice to broaden the scope of the sim, after all its the same helo but with a couple of different features that let it see and fight in the dark.
