MaverickM1 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I created some P51 missions for me and a friend of mine (we used to fly in pair or we practicing alone) and it works great, switching fuel tanks, check oil and coolant temps... Sometimes we bust the engine but it is really feels okay. But after several DCS updates the engine seizes shortly after starting the mission. (mostly we start in mid air) Everything in green, the very same mission, very same config and the engine seizes in most cases in 30secs or sooner. Sometimes it takes 1-1.5 minute but it dies every single time. (prop stuck, no windmilling) I have to load the mission editor and just copy/paste the bird and delete the original to make it work again. After that I can fly again without mysterious engine breakdowns. Is there any other players experiencing the same issue with the Mustang? Thanks. I don't have any footage for now 'cause I already updated my missions but if it happens again I will make some videos. (it is completely default Mustang and after the engine dies there is only one line in debrief list: The engine damaged beyond repair.)
Art-J Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago The only way to reliably kill DCS Mustang engine that fast has always been to overboost it and cause preignition in certain narrow range of increased MAP + decreased RPM (can't remember the most "deadly" combination off top of my head). That shouldn't depend on mission file, however. Only on throttle and RPM lever positions, so you might want to check if you don't air-spawn with these where they shouldn't be. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
