Richrach Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 The seats in the Intruder were not level with each other. The BN sat well below the height of the pilot. This was intentional as his work was usually inside the cockpit, particularly at night on radar. For my Intruder NFO brethren this is not a knock, I am an ECMO so I know the drill. Visual models of the A-6E I have seen do not reflect this. 1
Art-J Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Eh, doesn't look "well below" to me, at least not noticeably? The aft offset IS modelled, though. In either case it's not something to be worried about in AI asset, very likely to be tweaked anyway when flyable version comes. 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Richrach Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 Yeah, I know the seats are adjustable. With 3000+ hours in GRUEA-7 seat, I know exactly how adjustable they are, and are not. My time was in the right seat, the one that is lower. Even raised up all the way the BN or ECMO was not as high as the pilot could be when seen from the nose of the jet. It does surprise me that a group that prides itself on so much detail in its modeling might not care about the detail of the seats. 1

Dragon1-1 Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 (edited) With pilot's seat in a low position and BN seat in high position it could possibly give the impression of them being roughly even, but anyone who saw the movie could see Morg sat well lower. 2 hours ago, Richrach said: My time was in the right seat, the one that is lower. Did you ever get to kick the bombing computer? Though I guess it was gone from the Prowler. Edited December 27, 2025 by Dragon1-1 1
Richrach Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 Dragon One, there were a lot of quirks in Grumman products (A-6, EA-6, F-14, E-2). No, I did not get to kick anything to make it work again, but I did once pull most of the back seat of a Prowler apart in flight to reset the pins on a wiring harness and get the system to start working again. Got in a lot of trouble with Maintenance Control over that, but it did work. 2

You are correct in the positioning difference between the two seats IRL, but I see it in Heatblur's model here for sure. 1 [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Richrach Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Todd, copy all. I could not see it from the modeling I saw, but if you say it is there, I believe you. Too many years of sitting on the right and lower oozing from my eyes? Thank you for taking the time to check my observation. - Zip

Ivandrov Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) Yeah it definetly looks like it needs to come down if this angled down view looking at the alignment of the canopy rails still shows the right seater top of helmet in line the the pilot's forehead Problem being maybe the height differences of the crew is going to be throwing it off a lot. I actually think trying to compare from the front is a mistake as the right seat being farther back contributes quite a bit to the perception of it being lower when looking from the front. Side views let you compare the two axis of the seat position individually. Edited January 2 by Ivandrov
