IvanK Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) Was experimenting with the INS Long Alignment pre Start with External power. It takes 15min from selecting the Main and Stby Gyro switches ON to the NAV Ready light illuminating. There is no need to do the CPTR ZERO MAG HDG SLAVE routine as the slaving to aircraft True heading occurs during the Long Alignment ... A Full INS Gyro Compass routine taking place. You get a momentary flash of the HSI HDG off flag at around 4:50 then the HSI compass card synchs at 5:08. (Though IRL there is/can be an entry of True Ramp heading which is input with the Ramp Latitude and the other AD/WYPT data) Not so practical in the game environment. The Manuals do talk about doing a Long alignment if on a Long Flight without RSBN updates. Interesting none the less. Edited December 28, 2025 by IvanK
ALEX LORENCIO Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I agree with the NAV ready light , i had thought that light will never illuminate. Only the FAST PREP light xD. I always took off with the FAST PREP light on and ... idk , the airplane works well. I didn't search too much about this sincerely. I read the manual and during startup procedure it says to push P and 9 at the same time and move the switch to OPER. i thought that was enough :s
IvanK Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 The Fast prep light will extinguish once weight comes off the wheels on take off. This is the point at which the MIG29 INS starts to navigate after a Quick Alignment.
