Just recently patched my game to the v1.01 due to not having to many problems with the stock game.

One of the biggest problems I am having since the patch is being able to get a steady hover.

Before the patch I could bring the helo to a trimmed hover around 7-10 degrees (as read of the hud) hit the auto hover and the helo would auto trim to a solid hover with no slewing either axis.

Now I just cannot achieve a solid hover without the helo drifting all over the place. I have tried putting in deadzones on my CH fighter Stick just in case it was giving inputs to the controls but no I think the patch is to blame.

Anyone or ED give any reasons to why it has been changed or any positive tips to maintaining a solid hover?

The patch has a new method for trimming. Did you switch back to the old trimming or do you use the new one?

I've not noticed any significant difference, however I have allways had to re-trim several times to give the autopilot enough authority to cancel out fully and get stable.

I dont really think this has changed since the patch, but an important thing to remember in the auto-hover function is that it is not a replacement for the ability to hover manually. The procedure is to first achieve a trimmed hover and then initiate hover mode. This may cause some to wonder at what the point of the autopilot hover mode is, but it is fairly simple: it is to allow you to forget about hover once it is initiated. On a normal trimmed hover you would be at the mercy of changing winds, changing centre-of-gravity due to weapon employment, fuel burn and so on and cause you to constantly have to watch yourself to ensure you do not drift.

The hover mode gives the autopilot a limited authority to compensate for these things so that it, with the ground radar, can constantly input stabilizing commands to compensate for these, changing winds and so on. But you should remember that the autopilot has limited authority in this mode, so if you entered autohover at an incorrect attitude it may not have sufficient authority to correct.

I don't think this has changed since before the patch, but I was not part of testing that patch so I cannot say for sure. But it is worth looking at - it is easy to think of auto-hover as a replacement for trimming yourself into a manual hover, but that is not it's purpose. The purpose is to decrease your workload after you have achieved a hover.

after flying for such a long time, I never worry about getting a hover, and finding a perfect hover is much easier too..

it's all practice..

in fact now we have to add wind in our missions to make it more real,, like in real life..

Guys I hear what you are saying, but I can achieve a hover with trim alone but it now just takes longer than before as I now constantly have to re- trim whilst I am in Auto hover.

If you watch Waldo II in his video, that is how it used to work for me, now its trim, trim trim trim some and then some more.

I know it has changed as I have BS v1.0 on my laptop and it works fine like it has done from scratch, but on the Desktop which is now v1.01 its changed.

Come on ED did the new trim mess with the auto hover?

Overall what the thread says is:

This might help. It helped me and many others with trim problems.

Are we having a pissing contest Ramstein?

I actually fly for real if you must know.

It may not be a Helo or a Plane, it is actually a R.O.V.

Although its probably not as demanding as a Kamov it is however a serious, expensive and demanding piece of kit, so even though I have flown this vehicle for 4 years I always use Trim and Auto Heading when I can.

I play sims for fun but fly a £500,000 piece of kit in my daily job (not to mention the down time penalty of an oil rig if things go wrong)

Its not how good you are but how well you get the job done!

Interesting you bring that up. Ive had the same problem. I thought maybe my joystick is shot or I lost it cause Im having same problem. Everything worked so smooth before patch and now I cant seem to trim worth crap. Chopper is always driffting and changing directions when I try to hover no matter how many times I trim. I cant get my chopper to even stay in its current direction unless either I have the skval locked on a target with the tracking selected on the targeting computer, or if I have a waypoint selected on the PVI I have to deselect it. Im having difficulty with forward flight as well. If I have flight director engaged or simply trying to fly straight without engaging route mode my chopper keeps changing attitude and altitude. If I try to trim it out it just goes in the opposite direction.

I still use the original trimming method since I dont have FFB.
