Help needed.

I just got the DCS black shark, and suddenly my interest for Lock On was revived. I couldn't play it before because of the my low end system, so I didn't bother buying it at all.

I want to buy Lock On, but I'm a bit confused. I see LOMAC, Flaming Cliffs, and Lock On Gold. What Which one do I need to get to be most current? Is Lock On: Flaming cliffs CD a full version or an upgrade to LOMAC?

Thanks for your response

Lock on Gold, but beware there will be another version, Flamming cliffs 2.0 due to be released next January/February.

There will be electronic and DVD versions.

Lockon:Flaming Cliffs (aka FC) is a payware upgrade to LOMAC. Nearly all folks who fly online (certainly all the serious online flyers) are using FC patched to the latest standard v1.12b :joystick:

Lockon was released by the publishers (UBI) in stores all over the World in Xmas 2003. UBI own the Lockon name. Their deal with the developers (Eagle) allowed Eagle to release an addon (Flaming Cliffs) after UBI baled out. I guess Lockon didnt make UBI the sort of money they had hoped.

Initially FC was released as a web download only. Later, a single CD version had a limited release through specialist online Flight Sim stores such as simw.com, etc

Later still a GOLD double CD pack was released in stores in the USA with Lockon on 1 CD and FC on the 2nd CD.

Some of those GOLD packs had a borked 2nd CD and there was an exchange system set up so folks could get a working CD sent to them. That exchange system ceased operation long ago. Unlikely, but remotely possible, that there are bad GOLD packs still out there on the shelves of stores in the US.

Later still a GOLD pack was released in Europe. As I understand it, none of those European GOLD packs had any manufacturing problems.

Eagle have announced that (hopefully) sometime in the 1st quarter of 2010 a large payware FC patch will be released called 2.0 (cost something like 15 USD) which aims to make FC compatable with DCS:Black Shark by using the same mission editor as DCS and the same terrain map as DCS.

I have seen LOMAC on Amazon for $10 and Flaming cliffs for $18.99, but the Gold is what? $59.99!!! So getting the original LOMAC and Flaming Cliffs seems to be the way to go. But Is 2.0 going to be an upgrade to 1.12b alone, or can it be a stand alone upgrade to the original LOMAC (I mean is it gonna be possible to upgrade LOMAC to FC 2.0 without having to install the previous FC?

Thanks for the much info
