Woots
All the tweaking in the world won't get your frame rates above 35-45 fps ish when flying over cities or taking off from a FARP with 8 helos simultaneously. Correct? If so, I can move on and enjoy the game. Edited January 25, 2010 by Woots [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bucic
It depends on the hardware and OS you have. Here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49429&page=4 you can find an example of detailed performance test. IIRC there was a dedicated benchmarking thread with official reference track file (replay) provided. Compare your results with results of others with similar hardware and you'll know. https://akaagar.github.io/briefing-room-for-dcs/ F-5E simpit project https://forum.dcs.world/topic/318106-f-5e-simpit-cockpit-dimensions-and-flight-controls/
isoul
But who forces you to keep tweaking instead of flying? You tweak once or twice, using some of the directions found in the forum or in guides, and when you have the desired outcome you can start flying! You may tweak again if someone come up with something new that will improve your gaming quality! Keep in mind that the desired outcome is a good performance/quality ratio for your rig, its what YOU think its OK! Once you achieve good performance you may just stop... don't try to hit 200 fps, just play the game with acceptable performance! Personally I would prefer a rock solid 30fps (that would never drop) but since this is impossible I am satisfied with 40-55 while in cockpit! Even same rigs can have varying performance results... based on applications in the background or drivers installed. Negative I agree with the thread starter 8+helo's on a FARP near a city will bring any system to a crawl. Bucic
Negative I agree with the thread starter 8+helo's on a FARP near a city will bring any system to a crawl. Talking about FPS decreases in exact values is just plain wrong. Percentage is what really tells you to what degree something has changed. Unless you provide the FPS value before the decrease which brings us back to percentage. Again - oh, I gained 5 FPS! - means nothing. As for the "every system on its knees" - I have a medicore system (GF 9600, C2D 3+ GHz) and you can check yourself my whole FPS chart from the test based on a very intense action track file, units on a small area, near a city. test results, hardware and settings: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=823470&postcount=31 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=823740&postcount=40 That's me. For a guy with the latest ATI 5xxx and Intel i-series CPU your story with FARP, city and 8+ helicopters sounds just silly :) Edited January 25, 2010 by Bucic https://akaagar.github.io/briefing-room-for-dcs/ F-5E simpit project https://forum.dcs.world/topic/318106-f-5e-simpit-cockpit-dimensions-and-flight-controls/

You tweak once or twice, using some of the directions found in the forum or in guides, and when you have the desired outcome you can start flying! Tweaking "once or twice" is at odds with the rest of your sentence "when you have the desired outcome". Tweaking is a process and takes multiples of tries to get the right combo. Just look at all the threads on the subject! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

StrongHarm
It's all about finding your personal preference in the balance of visual to performance quality. I spent my first few days with the software doing testing and finding my sweet spot. Here are the observations: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49041 It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Schnarre Aggro
Only buying a SSD and constantly reducing bottlenecks on your system will help u get rid of these stuttering. For example: have a c2quad @4ghz and a GTX285 and only 2gig of DDR2 1066mhz RAM ->you still have huge reloading lags but have a c2quad @ 3,5ghz and a Hd4890 and 4gig DDR3 with 1600mhz Ram ---> u will have a lot less lags I Tried what i wrote ! Playing Dcs at 1920x1200 16xAF; 12xAA(even Edgedeteckt in CCC-->24xAA) Useing Frazer tuning guide: i set lod->5 ; Farclip 80000 and last but not least I tweaked away the "seeThroughBuildings" by editing the "fogParam2" to kk"0" All in all , with 9 choppers in sight on a carrier i had "playable" 12-15 Frames (everyone else in Ts was about 3-6 fps, and some of them HAD I7systems!) while normal playing with up to 10 people on the server my Fps wont fall under 33 ! Check out my system if u dont believe =STP= Schnarre EDIT: have to add, i feel/see no stuttering , even when playing with 15 Fps its not lagging and stuttering its more like have "fluent/constant" low frameskk Edited January 27, 2010 by Schnarre [Aggro] needed to explain myself ;-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There are two types of fighter pilots - those who have, and those who will execute a magnificent break turn towards a bug on the canopy . . . . http://www.youtube.com/user/schnarrsonvomdach http://www.twitch.tv/schnarre https://www.facebook.com/pages/Schnarre-Schnarrson/876084505743788?fref=ts
msalama
EDIT: have to add, i feel/see no stuttering , even when playing with 15 Fps its not lagging and stuttering its more like have "fluent/constant" low frameskk +1 Now you may not believe this, but I have a single-core P4 2.4GHz / NVidia GF7600GS / 2GB RAM rig here and it (finally) runs BS quite well. I sometimes go as low as 10-15 FPS too, but those are smooth frames and I seldomly suffer from freezes / stutters anymore. Yah, took a lot of XP, computer & BS tweaking to achieve, but I frikkin' made it at last :D Does it look like crap though? Of course it does, b/c all the textures are now resized either to 64x64 or 128x128. No other way of making the bugger run in any sensible fashion, but that to me is acceptable in what is undoubtedly the best PC simulator ever... So it is indeed doable with an old rig, too, provided that you can put up with the inevitable loss of visual quality. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
