Sarge55
Perhaps this is too simpistic but why not use the FC 1.1 method to display the image in the Skhval for the Su-25T. I had no FPS hits in FC 1.1 and the image was clear. I realize it's different terrain etc but why the big difference? czarnyolek
FPS counter seems to be really strange in this game. As far as i know if you see more than 24 frames per second you see image moving smoothly - thats the way human eye is working. In FC2 even with values around 30 i can see world stutter. Another strange thing is, that even with FPS count around 10 ( clouds, buildings, lights, poor graphic card) stutter is not so significantly bigger. Does it really show Frames Per Second rate or is it some Frames Precount Sinificance or even Form of Popular Sickness ;) Seems not very accurate, or is it just me? Shaman
Weird, because my image is smooth at 25+ and doesn't stutter. What's interesting is it actually FC2 feels way smoother then FC1 while at low but acceptable FPS. That's my impression on my system - which is mid-range. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Bucic
As far as i know if you see more than 24 frames per second you see image moving smoothly - thats the way human eye is working. Not exactly. In 3D graphics without motion blur, like in movies, you will still see the difference between 25 and 50+ FPS. To tease you a bit and make you interested in high FPS :sly: Download high resolution here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=864252&postcount=29 Read about Vsync here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49651&highlight=Vsync from post #9 ahead (don't miss # 16) and what it can do for you. Of course it's for system-lockon combination where FPS is far higher than 20 FPS. There are people claiming that their game running at 20 FPS is perfectly smooth. Well, I avoid discussions with such individuals. czarnyolek
I understood that if i change refresh rate of monitor, stutter should go away. My system goes over 30 fps, however not all of the time in FC2, while with FC1 its way over 40, 50. I'm waiting for some tweaks witch i suppose are going to appear in this thread ;) (done first one by Yoda, but as ever, would like more)

wiwa23
Hi, Nice tweak! Indeed it gives a realistic ditstant feel. I think it is more a mod than a tweak is it? It gives more atmosphere but the gain in fps is minimal right? Although I seem to gain a few frames (more testing later on). However, still the Lomac series continues to confuse and frustrate me regarding tweaking. Just to add a oneliner to make clear what I want. 'Lowering the amount of buildings/trees without affecting it's visibility'. Then, afterwards, makes those few buildings/trees seen from far out. I Also read the black shark tweak guide. But there are still things that just don't seem right about it. I did post the following at another topic I created http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51725. I thought this could be better place here, so... ... Frazers tweak guide for KA-50 says that with structures the first number is for popup for small buildings, while te second is for popup for larger buildings. When I put one or the other at zero, there is no building at all. So there seems to be a relationship between them what makes it hard to understand. It also says that dynamic means factories, cranes...etc. Well, I put both numbers at zero and I still get to see them. So the cranes, factories are included with the structures(I put mirage at zero as well, so that must be the conclusion). The same for mirage. While it says that it is for civilian activity. When putting both numbers at zero. I still get to see them. So this also is included in the structures (I put dynamic at zero as well, so that must be the conclusion). Maybe at has changed with FC2 in comparison with Blakshark? But I remember FC1 and Lomac to be just as vague to me. I get rather demotivated because it seems that there just isn't an easy and clear way to tweak Lomac (FC2). I don't want much scenery. But I just want those damn trees and I want a few buildings. And I want both of them seen from far out, no popups. It is frustrating that I just can't shoose what I want to see. For instance, a few main buildings, few trees, seen from 15 km. I would like to thin out the scenery files and step up the visibility. A clear and expanded preference screen for visuals would be just the thing FC2 need. There would be no guessing with obscure numbers at the graphic.cfg or the lua files. And anybody with any system could play FC2 at an enjoyable level. Maybe an idea? However, if someone knows how to achieve all the above, please tell me! Thanks. Wiwa Edited March 31, 2010 by wiwa23
RvEYoda
for me it gives major performance improvements and lower ingame stutters. S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
Frazer
@wiwa23, please remember that putting things to "0" may not have the effect as you think. You must work with valid (reasonable) numbers. And indeed, some settings and effects are different from DCS:BS A FC2 tweak guide will be made, though you can find quite some good tips on the forum aswell. 1 Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
wiwa23
Frazer, thanks for the reply. Well, If an extensive menu preference options is to much to ask then a clear guide is the next best thing. I hope there will be a clear guide soon that explains all the numbers and other things. That would be great. Although a more extensive menu option would be great. Something like FSX has. Next to this I found that after more testing the tweak of A.S made my stuttering disappear. It was an improvement for my FPS as well. And , the looks are better. So thanks! Frazer
I remember that removing scratches in Blackshark has no influence on FPS at all. A.S
I notice many often remove reflection and scratches. I dont, because it gives me a great reference of motion aka "how the bandit moves through my canopy" and allows me to judge his energy pretty well. Manueverhistory, attitude (pitch), Gs (vapor trails)..etc etc everything what reveals the bandits intentions.....all hints you dont wanna miss in a doggy. ericinexile
Regarding the Shkval: It only has a mild affect on framerate in BS for me. With FC2 the Su25t is almost unflyable with the shkval on. My settings for DC and FC2 are the same except that I have the FC 2 Cockpit resolution set at 256 instead of 512 in BS. Isn't there a way to separate the level of detail for the shkval from the detail outside? Squid
This tweak done nothing for me regarding stuttering (ground moving pass you micro stuttering, inherited i guess from LO/FC1) (FPS are just fine as it is out of the box) nor bad tearing-up/waving (vsync has no effect on it) BUT it did fix an issue i have with low resolution textures mixed up with high resolution ones (as if some cdds / mipmap issue) : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=864773&postcount=9 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866232&postcount=19 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866158&postcount=14 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866176&postcount=15 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51719&page=3 I have no clue which part of this tweak fixes that though .... NOW, one thing i dont like about this tweak is the way the objects pop up only just when you pass by over them. The way the visibility range of objects was with the stock settings was great. What entries do i have to restore to stock to get ground objects back to the stock visibility range settings? more noticeably, buildings, bridges, i guess "structures" ?
