i'm just discovering the story of WWII biological warfare research team unit 731 . some describe atrocities made by that unit (atrocities apparently is a weak word) , but seems there's everything that has been said about that unit , some talk about zombies and i can't find trials related documents . somebody knows if trials have been held and where i can find some information about the trials . please no politics

difficult to know the truth . Khabarovsk was more a political trial , with Stalin at the commands and the interests of the miltary concerning japanese experiments results there are few chances for the result to be reliable . it was a biological warfare reseach unit for sure but did they really made what it is said they done . did they really made experiments on living humans ? some of the unit persons in charge at that time occupied very high responsabilities jobs in Japan after the war

Well, you had said "no politics" but introduced it right now.

It's not enough to mark trial as "political trial" just because it was conducted during Stalin period. You need more proof.

Also about Stalin. You can learn about him from many sources. I don't believe he was good man either but he was leader for 30 years. Definitely, he had supporters. Also, Russia (together with her leaders) needed to look bad bcs of making communists threat bigger and uglier. That's also political.

Now, about Unit 731. Try to find more info, more sources, study it and make conclusion based on your (independent) research. Official version said that these experiments were conducted. It's enough for me regard fact that trial has been done during Stalin leadership.

Wiki quote:

"...it was suggested[citation needed] that they were lightly sentenced in a plea bargain that provided the Soviet Union with all of the data and notes to the work of Unit 731. Others, who surrendered to the Americans, were granted amnesty in exchange for access to the data collected by them."

End of quote

There was apparently a big interest towards the data from these experiments. :music_whistling:

Yes. I'm very sorry you brought this up. It is a very big deal.

731, and the Nazi scientists in the camps, committed things that are unspeakable. I think that Topol-M has hit the nail on the head with his quote from Wiki, and I plead with you to not take this any further on these forums.

If anybody isn't sure what me or anybody else is talking about then please to a Google, read for yourself about what happened, and contemplate humanity/respect the dead.

I encourage discussion about humanity, but in this case I feel it needs no discussion and should remain both a memorial, and a warning to our generation.

JPM mate, I just really don't want this talked about - once discussed things have a way of being trivialised.

These experiments, as well as the WW2 itself, are a lesson and a rather instructive one. They just show the real face of the human nature from various points of view. There is no use for ignoring the history. Another question is that this thread was created with asking a specific question (if there were trials...), but my quote from wiki was very much related to that question.

In no way am I suggesting it be ignored - I just don't want to take away from the sheer terrible nature of the experiments by over-exposure.

I'm politely pleading to leave it as shocking as I found it, rather than have the subject discussed and have everyone desensitised to it. I don't see what good can come from people seeing it as 'just another atrocity'. Let them find out, reflect upon it, and encourage others to do the same, without discussing it.

I don't see what there is to talk about to be honest. I'm sure we'd all be in agreement with each others' sentiments.

With regards to the war trials question posted, as mentioned I believe your quote from Wiki to be the answer, case closed.
