Hi there.

Have just finished downloading FC2 from direct2drive however I cannot install.

Due to there not being a 64 bit installation exe or anything.

I have 64 bit Vista home, it just gives me an error. Have tried running as admin or as other compatablility modes

Are there any ways round this or a patch?

1. Strange.. AFAIK FC2.0 is not distributed through d2d..

2. Do you have lock on modern combat installed?

I might have been able to help you, but "an error" doesn't give me an awful lot to go on. ;)

Hi there, the error message shown is "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Looks like the version on D2D is just 32 bit only. I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit

I have the same issue. I downloaded from D2D. D2D does, in fact, offer the game. When I tried to commence the installation I got the error message that

the program was not compatible with the version of windows that I am running (Win 7 64 bit). When I try to run the setup.exe in admin mode I get an error message saying that the file cannot be found.

I think I just found at least part of the problem. D2D is selling Flaming Cliffs 2 as a standalone game. I think it might actually be an upgrade. The description on the D2D site does not indicate that LOMAC is required.

Correct you need the orginal LoMAC installation still even though it can install in a separate directory:thumbup:

Hey y'all I'm new here so I hope this is the right place to post this , if I should start a new thread please let me know. Thanks

I am having the same problem , I just bought Lock on Flaming Cliffs 2 from D2D as it looks awesome but it will not install on Win 7 64bit , it gives this error (sorry it won't let me post an image)

(appearently the link will not work either..humm , well the error is the same as above)

is there any way to resolve this or am I at the mercy of D2D support?:helpsmilie:

I have LOMAC installed and patched which is funny as it is about 7 or 8 years old now and works fine with my 64bit windows.

Thanks for any help and again , sorry if this is the wrong place for me to post this.

I dug up an old copy of LOMAC and placed the FC2 folder into a new installation of LOMAC. I get the same problem. If I don't run as admin, it says the version of windows is the incorrect version. As admin, it can't find the executable file I just clicked.

I can't even run it as Admin , it gives the same error. I even tried to install the DXUpdate (Feb2010 full file) that came with the program in an extra software folder , it has X86 AND X64 files in it but the setup says its the wrong version??

I have opened a support ticket to D2D and if this cannot be resolved I'm asking for an exchange.

I wonder does the disk (DVD) version of this game do this as well?

Ok, solved the problem. Go to the patch page from the Lock On website. Download the FC2 patch over your D2D download. It works from that point.

Cool I'll try it as I will most likely have to doanload it again anyways , is this the one??

LockOn_FC2_Patch_1.2.1_EN.exe

And after trying some things yesterday with D2D support (Re-downloading trying to unzip with another unzipper yada yada) and it still not working I just got a new response from D2D , I do have to give the D2D Customer support a thumbs up , they are on the ball!!:

Jim, the link in your post at the top of this page doesnt work properly, no picture is shown, just a line of text.

I dont know about the D2D version, but LOFC2 install fine on my pc which has windows 7 64 ultimate.

It installs perfectly either in the program files x86 folder or my LOFC2 folder which is in the main directory i.e C:/LOFC2

I made sure that I ran the install as admin, and it worked ok, however I did have problems trying to install normal lockon, in order for me to install that I had to install as admin and set compatibility mode as XP SP2 or SP3.

If you are having problems installing FC2, maybe you can install in C:/LOFC2 and not the program files folder and also set it to install as admin and if that doesnt work then set compatibility mode as XP SP2 or SP3 and see what happens.

BUT, if D2D has corrupt files up for download then nothing you can do about it will help, hopefully D2D will sort the problem ASAP.

Also disable any and all AntiVirus and other security programs during the install process as they can block things from install properly, so disable them before you install.

Thanks all for the suggestions but I just got this from D2D support:

Solution:

Hi there,

Unfortunately there is a technical issue with the download and we've had to withdraw the game from sale temporarily while we resolve the problem. I apologize for the inconvenience this must cause. We've refunded your account for this purchase. We will be putting the game back on sale as soon as the problem is fixed. The game we had on sale is standalone, however the problem affecting the download is causing many issues with installation. We will be putting both the standalone game and individual expansion on our store as soon as the problem is fixed.

Feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.

And I just got my refund from PayPal soo...I guess I'll wait till the download files are fixed. I may try to find the DVD hard copy in the meantime.

thanks y'all.
