bad weather effects trim is your friend, and turn off the heading hold might help you. I fly with only these on, pitch and bank hold all others off.

 

and lots of triming. :thumbup:

I really never fly with trim or heading hold, I thought that was for making the sim close to game mode? I guess if I did that then yes the weather would be far less problem but I like to fly the aircraft with out help from the systems if I can, that's why I would like to fly a track made by an experienced pilot to get some ideas, and I can think of no better, faster way then to fly along with an experienced pilot. Personaly I dislike using trim very much, to me it's like turning a Lamborghini Murcielago into a Buick LeSabre but this is only the opinion of one wanna be pilot.:)

If I have a good track to watch a pro doing it using all of that flight augmentation, I could be converted lol.

Well on the KA50 those flight system, assist computer flight of the KA50 so the pilot can concentrate on the weapons system..

I don't think I can quite count myself as a "pro" yet, but I am usually the top, or very close to the top, scorer with the best kill to death ratio (often infinity) on any given server. Here's "raw footage" from one of my recent flights. Sorry about the quality of the video, but youtube does not properly process wide screen 1080p .wmv files, and this is the highest resolution I could upload with a 4:3 aspect ratio (the only aspect ratio youtube seems to process correctly).

 

Anyway, I use all the stabilization and augmentation channels. They are very helpful and help you to keep your head on a swivel, looking out all sides of the helo, the only way to really have good SA and survive. They also allow you to go heads-down and not worry much about hitting anything, nice when you gotta do something like set up weapons or mess with the Abris.

I would have been eating tree limbs or dirt if I tried any of that lol. Pretty nice to see. I have been mostly just target practicing and not using the systems much but I can see for sure how it will help tons while trying to look away from the target to do other things. You are able to stay in a safer position because of it where I need to keep plenty of alt because of not using the augmentation. I need to practice some more, then when I'm done I need to practice more even lol. Thank you for posting.

 

If you look at some of the videos in the new KA-50 video thread you can also hear the sounds of the trimmer in the real cockpit being used constantly, maybe even more. after watching and listening to those videos I have a far greater appreciation of the realism of this sim. I was watching a video taken from the pilots perspective there and for a moment I had to ask myself "am I watching the sim here or am I in the cockpit of the real thing" Thats saying a whole lot because I have NEVER had that feeling before. And you can see by my sig I have been around, you name it and I BET I've flown it virtually. :)

I also was wondering if there was a way to slow it down:cry:, I think the only way would involve uploading to a file server and that could take some time depending on his upload speed. It would be heaven to watch that in full length. :thumbup:

LOL NP I guess I'm just being cautious, I Mod on a Asus Mother board forum and had a guy the other day make some demands that sounded outrageous. When everyone there is doing it on pretty much a volunteer basis.:thumbup:

Hmm. I just figured a non time compressed version would be too boring and long. I thought it would be easy enough to still figure out what is going on in the video even at 4X TC. Someone would have to sit through 40 minutes and four videos just to see as much action as you can pack into one video at 4X TC. And yes, youtube limits you to 10 minutes. I suppose I could start the track, leave fraps running (I haven't gotten the built-into-DCS "record an .avi" feature to work yet), and go to the store or something... better yet would be for me to take a track from a DIFFERENT flight and put it up if I were to post something at normal time.

 

If you really want it, I can upload the track from that mission, but be advised, the track screws up starting at about 45 minutes in- I start "shooting at nothing" when in fact there was a convoy there.

I'm 50 something so my attention span is pretty long compared to the youngsters now days :lol:. I can actually go 5 seconds without seeing body parts flying and not fall asleep:lol:. I for one will be very happy with anything you post, I think for us "noobs" it helps a lot when seeing it in real time because alot of what seems like a given to the experienced pilots is lost on us. I know that I was lost a couple of times watching the compressed video.

I manage to play the video file using VLC player at 1/4 speed,

however, I find it too choppy.

so the track file will be good if you can upload it

You guys know about the line in the hud that helps you enter hover right?? Also hit RCTRL ENTER for a very useful control HUD (you would be suprised how many people fight the stick because there yaw is trimmed out of center). When your engaging a target don't try to "stick it" just use the turn to target mode you can litterly steer the helo with it (this is one of those examples I mentioned in another post about things that can overide the helo wanting to follow the diamond). If you are engaging anti air consider not using the autohover mode. It can retard slideslip and cuase you to get hit my a missle you could have otherwise avoided.

I flew with him long before he entered the 104th , where he displayed this knowledge and skill , plus much more....and shared it with others. I'd like to give Quick the credit others seemingly are reluctant to.

Thanks for sharing Quicksilver. Keep up the good work over at Warhawks ( of which I am not a member , for those pessimists )
