martinistripes Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I keep seeing DCS: A10C in posts. Shouldn't it be DCS: Warthog (ie in the same vain as Black Shark). Black Shark wasn't called DCS: Ka-50, was it now? :music_whistling: I'll need to adjust my signature if we're switching to alpha-numeric designations. :D ...official game title please? cctoide Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) I've seen it called "DCS: A10-C Warthog" in most formal articles. That seems to be what they're calling it now, though it might also be that ED hasn't decided yet. edit: got Wagsed :P. Edited June 23, 2010 by cctoide [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ZQuickSilverZ Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Wags clarified it for you cctoide. He is the producer for the game. Since the Warthog is better known then the BS he may have wanted to put the model on there so people knew what kind it was. Plus they refine as they go and BS was first generation. Wags can you please clarify if A-10C is more GPU dependent because thats what I am hearing at the rumor mill. Also I am so happy that you are so involved with the community. I really feel like I have a connection to the game and that we are actually heard. Thank you for that. That said I have a question. In the future I am sure there will be many many DCS titles. What happens when we have to patch them. Are we going to have to download 6 patches? Are you going to release a shotgun patch (it spreads out and hits all of them). Are they all going to share a source where we need only one? Anxious to hear from you Wags take care. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. "I've seen steering wheels / arcade sticks / flight sticks for over a hundred dollars; why be surprised at a 150 dollar item that includes the complexities of this controller?! It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown. These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Wags can you please clarify if A-10C is more GPU dependent because thats what I am hearing at the rumor mill. That sounds weird. Sure they don't mean that it'll task GPU's more than DCS:BS, as opposed to having the GPU as the main bottleneck? But obviously: disregard everything the rumor mill says since there's too much chinese whispers. I'd personally be surprised if anything but really old GPU's end up bottlenecking the application - just like with DCS:BS and FC2. (That said, you can bottleneck ANY application at the GPU through just giving it a high resolution and then apply 16x SSAA. :P ) Don't expect system requirement guidelines for some time though, since that is hard to quantify even internally as anything but "targets" until the product nears completion and all optimization work is done. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

Bucic Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 That's going to be tough. Many people couldn't spell even 'DCS Black Shark' correctly. With 'DCS: A-10C Warthog' it's not going to be any prettier :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
slug88 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Never mind spelling it correctly, many people still don't realize that DCS is the name of the product series, rather than the name of the developer. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

VMFA117_Poko Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 I think of all of them DCS Thunderbolt II sounds the best, and it hasn't even been considered.I think it's been already considered. "II" can be confusing for some people who start their adventure with pc simulation and don't know it's A-10's official name - "there was DCS Thunderbolt I already"? Warthog is used more often by pilots. But does it really matter? If you ask me next DCS could be named F-16C Viper with no problem but I also rather prefer official names.
ED Team f-18hornet Posted June 24, 2010 ED Team Posted June 24, 2010 I like more Thunderbolt II than Warthog too.:music_whistling: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GeForce RTX 2080Ti, 32 GB DRAM, HOTAS TM Warthog, FSSB R3 Lighting, MFG Crosswind, Win 10 Pro

martinistripes Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 It's mixed up. You have the A-10C part, which is all correct and official, and then pilot jargon attached to the end. 'DCS: Warthog' and 'DCS: A-10C Thunderbolt II' are BOTH better alternatives. Come on ED, you have the programming genius but I have the titles. :D Admit it.
