Landing on anything but runway = instant death?

Is it fair to say that it is impossible to land in FC2 on anything but the runway? For example, to "crash land" on grass/dirt somewhere in the mission area?

 

LOMAC, and now FC2, seem to consider this instant death.

Well in the advanced flight models of the 25 and 25T this is possible. It's also possible to land on roadways/streets/bridges in everything else. To be honest though, the likelyhood of you surviving a "tundra" landing in an F-15 seems extremely slim. I do however find that frustrating as well. If you check the screenshot thread, I posted some screenies that almost describe what you're talking about. I tried to bring an A-10 in without gear - I lightly skidded it onto the runway, and BOOM.

 

I really wish ED would have taken the time to put some advanced flight modeling into every aircraft, so it'd use physics a little more than crash detection, but eh.

 

Try to look for roadways when you need to ditch. Just watch out if you have civilian traffic turned on!

Depends on the aircraft that you choose. MiG-29A and -S, Su-27, Su-25 and -25T can land on and take off from any road on the map. All western aircraft types will crash trying this.

FC 2 ? Haven't managed to land a western type on a road yet. It worked out in FC 1.12 ....

I'm 90% sure I"ve landed my A10 on highways just to see if its doable.

I have landed 25t 25 and mig29s on road and grass in fc2, works no problem.

Oh yeah, never had a problem with it in FC2. I just line up and land as if it was a runway.
