DPS Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 That's one way around the problem. I moved house last year so I just got a new Freesat aerial/box/TV at that point in time. Of course if you enjoy the wireless that must be going over to digital only soon. So that will either mean a new car radio or singing to myself on long trips. I tried to paste in the video embed code with the YouTube tags but couldn't make it work. Does that have to be enabled in this forum?

joey45 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 If you lived where I lived for two years down in Hastings old town then you'll need to get sky [ there's no cable] cos you can not get any digital recpection there...... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. monotwix Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 And why is that I wonder? Is that the voice of Hastings? I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
RvEYoda Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 They did this over here in Sweden I think 3-5 years ago. There was a lot of fuss about it, and I still think the new system is rather mediocre. S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
joey45 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 And why is that I wonder? Is that the voice of Hastings? In what way..... Hastings Bourgh Co. need to do sometrhing about it before alot of their residents start complaining. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Brit_Radar_Dude Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Am up to date on TV switchover where I live and (more importantly as they'll need a bit more help) where my elderly parents live. Hadn't thought about radio. When is that gonna be? Can't live without radio in my car! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
EtherealN Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 They did this over here in Sweden I think 3-5 years ago. There was a lot of fuss about it, and I still think the new system is rather mediocre. Well, my understanding of the changes they did here with the switch was that it was mainly about decreasing the operating costs of the infrastructure, and all the talk about making it better for consumers was just hype to defend the change. For me it's made no difference though: I don't watch TV, I don't have Cable, I don't have a dish, and I don't have an antenna. (My house literally doesn't have one.) But I still have to pay license fee since I own a "TV" (If the manufacturer had listed it as a "monitor" it would have been something else) that I use once a month for playing Xbox with friends. So for me everything is unchanged - I still neither can nor want to watch TV, and I still have to pay for it. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

Don't know about the UK but in Austria the main driving force behind this was that digital TV is more efficient bandwith-wise, that means you can transmit the same data over a channel with less bandwith, therefore opening up room for more channels or selling some of the bands to the mobile communication lobby, e.g. Good, fast, cheap.
