Hey guys long time sim fan, hola :) Beautiful info on the site, it's helped me tons.. Thank you all

As I'm sure most have seen (http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=133&scr=products&lang=en) how is it the producer is moving his view in these videos? As if it's a pilots head pivoting around everything ?? what the heck ? Yes I have asked after much research which is why it is puzzling me, lwinf1 doesn't do anything to me ??

I have tried everything and researched everything, even the shift control keypads don't work as his does ? any ideas? Thanks a bunch .. writing in frustration :)

Try a little more searching for "Track IR" or "FreeTrack".

Basically is a hardware/software device that allows your head to be tracked and converted into head movement in game.

Best regards.

he is using track ir eh? cause he seems to close up to stuff and such .. if so great, thank you so much

Like Nate indicated, it's TrackIR with 6DOF ("6 degrees of freedom") support. DCS products support TrackIR units natively (should be no setup required to operate the unit in-game).

From your comment it sounds like your previous experiense is of the old "dot" trackir units that only supported up/down and left/right swivel. Newer units (3, 4 and 5) also have side to side movement, giving the extra "three degrees" that were missing in older implementations of the technology.

It really does wonders for building situational awareness to have all of that - especially in simulators with fully 3D and fully "clickable" cockpits since accessing all functions becomes easy and you can quickly return to the job of fighting your war. If your previous TrackIR experience is of older units, definitely consider checking the new ones out. I spent 10 years with IL2 and similar using the mouse (and I was really good at it :P ) but even then nothing compares to a proper 6DOF head tracker. :)

EDIT: A minor note also; those that prefer do have the option of remapping the Z axis to a zoom function instead of simply moving your head forward inside the cockpit. I personally don't like this, but it can be helpful - especially for people with small screens.
