tkairshows Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I was RTFM (thank God work has a color printer) and found that I could configure the ABRIS for english values. What about the HUD?
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I'm fairly sure it's not possible to change to imperial units for the HUD. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
DTWD Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Switching the game options to imperial (tick box) sorts that out for you. However parts of the game are in metric still so it can get confusing unless your quick at conversions in your head. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tkairshows Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) Can't we all just get along...wait thats right we did not join the rest of the world in the metric system. I agree with DTWD I am going to leave everything metric. I found a great conversion application for my phone. In my MiG I kept all of the original instruments other than airspeed and altimeter. Both changes were actually an FAA requirment for certification. I could deal with vertical speed being in m/s but what was really hard was flying IFR with the upside down attitude indicator! EtherealN Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 My view, as someone that in real-life use metric (in air and on the ground), and previously flew T-Frog and Shark with metric, and in FC2 started using the F15 and it's imperial(ist) units as my main plane: don't bother trying to change it around. Just learn what the units mean for that specific aircraft. For example: 300km/h+ in a Shark means you are overspeeding or close to it. Don't need to convert to knots for that. 450knots IAS is your desired corner speed in the F15. Don't need to convert to km/h for that. Altitude readings are a bit more difficult in there with the fighters, but with the Shark it's relatively easy: just find out where you are at risk of kicking up dust from the ground, and stay above that but not more above that than what terrain/obstacles force you to.
