S-80 rockets vs. tanks?

Has anyone ever managed to take out a tank with s-80 rockets? If so, any suggestions? I played a mission where I'm fending off Georgian attacks from a bridge checkpoint, and by the end there was only one tank left and I was only left with rockets- no ATGMs or cannon ammo left. I made two passes from directly behind, firing a medium burst when the pipper was right on target- two rockets hit him during the passes but they failed to kill him.

 

So are the s-80's really only useful against soft targets?

 

If so, are there any rockets that I can succesfully use against tanks?

To kill such vehicle as tank you need S-8COM(cumulative). In FC2 I killed tanks with them succesfully, flying on Su-25.

T-72 and up... tough nuts to crack. S-80KOMs can do it but you gotta get pretty close for a hit and it's going to take several. The KOMs are absolutely designed to kill medium armor... in fact they suck at just about anything else. I'd wager if you managed to get 5 hits it would've been a sure kill.

Actually the hardest thing with S-8KOM is to hit the tank directly... S-8KOM can penetrate armor but heavy tanks will be harder to take out and require more direct hits(never happened to kill a MBT with a single S-8 here).

 

I believe that a Ka-50 pilot is expected to counter heavy armor with Vikhrs... IRL 12 missiles are more than enough since 2 Ka-50 won't be sent against a whole armored battalion.

Aye, S-8KOMs are BMP-2s and below. I had good experiences defeating M109 Paladins. Hitting with the KOMs is not hard... at the right range. Attacking anything spiny is asking for trouble; best to hit parked, unmaned or non-threatening vehicles.
