jfeister
I just got this game for the first time off Steam. Apparently it's version 1.02. I'm eager to start learning the ropes, but the training section is empty. There's a download button that takes me to a broken link on the DCS website. I can't even seem to find any missions that start me off on the ground with the engine off so I can walk through the start up procedure. I assume I could create a mission using the editor, but it's seems a little ridiculous to have to learn how to use a mission editor just to start learning the game. Is there a copy of the training missions out there for version 1.02? Seems like first time players who got the game off steam have been left out in the cold. Frederf
The training tracks were made for version 1.0 and ED didn't redo them to be compatible for 1.02. To be honest they weren't that great nor complete. For a good cold start mission use the shooting range mission. You want to wander over to the DCS website and get the enhanced manual (more pages than ships with the game, at least my old version.) Just go through it chapter by chapter and be inquisitive how each system works. Use the forums to search for and ask your own questions here liberally. People will fall all over themselves in a race to help you first or faster. This website is supposed to provide a realistic and informative training curriculum ( http://leadingedgetraining.us/ .) dooom
I highly suggest you take a look at the wiki - great process for learning the shark and its tactics are outlined there. see this link: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Resources_for_New_Pilots It might seem like a bit of work but trust me - if you work through this, you'll be well set to enjoy the sim for years. Haven't read anything from him in ages, he doesn't answer on his own forum (doesn't even remove spam) and no new tweets either.
Frederf
No clue. If I know the type he's busy juggling things elsewhere. Sounds like he travels quite a bit too.
Erdem
You can watch producer notes off Youtube. Though it's weird that there are no training tracks provided with 1.02. Isn't that the reason the patch delayed so much?

Isn't that the reason the patch delayed so much? I'm fairly sure that was patch v1.01 you are thinking of. The v1.02 patch was to incorporate all the improvements from FC2. The delay was due to FC2 getting a necessary patch first, before BS got the compatibility patch.
