159th_Viper
...A great idea poorly executed.... It's a two-way street though, isn't it? I mean, it's not rocket-science. People are naturally interested in the A10C and that's to be expected. As a consequence the forums are inundated with countless threads that would more easily be dealt with in one thread, saving all a lot of headache. What should be obvious to all is that we as Testers will only be able to comment/expand on particular issues that have already been addressed by the Devs/Producers of ED, either in posts or producers' notes. Post a question and we'll do our best to answer......Do us the favour and ensure that your question posted accords with the above phrase in bold. If you are not entirely sure, well then do us the extra favour and err on the side of patience until said issue is addressed by the Devs/Producers. If some misunderstanding occurs during the questioning process then understand that the phrase 'Covered by NDA' is protecting the proprietary interests of TFC/ED and not an attempt to irritate. Assuming that your question stands to be addressed, we'll obviously do our best to address it as thoroughly as possible. As said, apart from specific areas of expertise from Translators/Voice-Over to RL current SME's, there will be someone who will be able to adequately answer your question. If you're not happy with the answer given, request further/additional info until you are happy with the answer provided - do not berate the messenger at the first sign of 'bad/inadequate info'. Again, provided that said info is within the purview of the above, it will in all probability be answered to your satisfaction. Keep in mind that it might however take a wee bit of time as some members are more active on the forums than others. 1 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? 159th_Viper
Could you give us a current weapons list that is in-game? Extract from Interview: Question: Is every munition carried by the actual A10C included in the loadout? Answer: Erm yeah and that was one of the big benefits of starting this work in the military side of it on our DTS that we did for the ANG and ACC and as you might imagine they're very specific that virtually anything that the A10C might carry they wanted to see in the DTS. So, as part of our agreement to do this game, we were able to port a lot of that information into DCS as well. http://www.simhq.com/_commentary/all_101c.html Goes without saying that at present we are still at Alpha and as such comments by Wags as obviously subject to change. Is however a good starting point. In direct answer to your question, Google A10C ordinance loadout - at this stage if the real bird can carry it, there's a pretty good chance the Virtual Bird will too :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? sobek
In direct answer to your question, Google A10C ordinance loadout - at this stage if the real bird can carry it, there's a pretty good chance the Virtual Bird will too :) Sorry to be so impertinent and correct you :), but it rather is like "if the particular version of the A-10C that is modelled has it in it's arsenal of weapons actually being used in combat (no experimental stuff that was tried but never really made it into service), then it will most likely show up in DCSW". Just to avoid any confusion. ;) Oh, and when in doubt, be careful with internet sources, after all, there's people claiming the A-10 can carry HARMs. :D Edited July 18, 2010 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. 159th_Viper
Sorry to be so impertinent and correct you :)..... Never be - I'm wholly fallible and have the scars to prove it! Thanks, also I know the A-10 can carry the hypervelocity missile, but it never saw service, but is it going to be in the game? What Sobek said: If not operationally deployed, chances are relatively slim to fcukall that you'll see it in-sim. **Also bear in mind that all comments are by their very nature subject to change** Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Bwaze
After reading some info on A-10C upgrade, I checked the screenshots and noticed something: DCSW's A-10C will be equipped with AN/AAR-47(V)2 Electro-Optic Missile Warning and Laser System. Compare to: Article about AN/AAR-47 infrared missile / laser warning system on Warthognews. Am I correct? Does this mean a new panel in cockpit too? Will the system be able to automatically deploy countermeasures? More info on system: AN/AAR-47 Electro-Optic Missile Warning and Laser System Manufacturer page AN/AAR-47 Product Data Sheet, PDF I guess the version installed in A-10C is AN/AAR-47(V)2, the baseline AN/AAR-47 did not provide laser warning and is a much older design. Eddie
"It's all integrated into the EW/CM system." Does that mean it will show up on one of the MFD pages? If so, you just saved me some money lol. No. The CM/EW system consists of 2 panels, one right in front of you below the HUD and one to the lower right in front of the warning panel, and the RWR. And by integrated I mean uses the same panels as CM/RWR etc, not integrated in the same way as systems on more modern fighters. In fact the CM panel is the same as is used on a fair few other aircraft including F-16A-MLU aircraft, it's just the MWS switch and display are actually connected to something for a change.
