Hotas Warthog Priced

Well, the stick is of the same size because they are equal, or almost equal. Both on the thrustmaster hotas and on the real aircrafts.

 

It really helps to have the stick mounted lower - down near lap - level.

 

If you're flying with the sticks up at shoulder height...that can get tough.

 

Although it was a little odd when we flew the demo in the SCS pits at the Warthog launch event. I'm used to flying with the stick off to my right (F-16 position) and a bit higher than they were.

No but seriously, guys, we all are buying TW, some immediatly and more expensive, some latter and cheaper, some second hand, eventually we all gonna be TW-hoged to the teeth, so what is all this debacle about? Price still gonna be as it's gonna be. On the other hand we just killing the time until A10C is being developed, so what the hell!

I just hope the stick isn't as huge as the Cougar, and more importantly, the springs aren't as stupidly stiff.

 

In fact, springs give the wrong feel for flying, one of the reasons I'm really interested in the X65F.

 

It's replica... i.e. same scale as the real thing.

 

Secondly, it doesn't have gimbals like the Cougar did and the feel is well... Read this hands-on preview of the HW wrttien by Ray from the Virtual Thunderbirds and check out these videos with Ray in the ACES II seat for an idea of the fulid movements of the HW.

Relax, there are no preorders for the rest of the world either, Amazon.uk removed the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog listing, and cancelled all the taken orders (I believe). They wrote this to one customer on SimHQ:

 

"Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick and Throttle for PC"

Estimated arrival date: November 02 2010 - November 08 2010

 

So it looks there could be a combined offering before Christmas, DCS: Warthog + Thrustmaster Warthog. :)

It looks great, and as a PC HOTAS controller freak, its great to see TM back.

 

However, my experiences of the post "original" Buzz Hoffman lead TM, to the French based company were bitter sweet ... I owned several TM HOTAS's before the Cougar, but in many ways the Coug was a big let down for me.

 

For sure it looked fantastic on the outside, but the internals were very weak, poor pots, mis-allighned switches, the gimbal mechanism was very poor too, with several entrepreneurs making massive improvements ... Evenstrain, anyone?

 

James Hallows Foxy software was awesome though.

 

I've already got far too many PC HOTAS controllers, with the Saitek X65F being my most recent purchase ... But I'll be watching this space with interest.

Nope preorders are still active, it could be the wrong weight they quoted for postage (a little more than a pound) or they could have sold all they could get. I have no idea what the reason is, but my preorder stands and it will be shipped on Oct. 28th or 29th according to the mail I received.

Lots of people have found out that its going to pop in November. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that its going to drop with the game and that the two companies are working (smartly) for a synergistic launch.

Pure speculation. Noone ever even said that DCS:A-10C was coming out this year. Some hinted that its being targeted for end of year release but noone has confirmed that to my knowledge.

well according the reviews Thrustmaster started the project before DCS was even announced. So the way I see it they are 2 almost unrelated projects. It wasnt made for DCS. Just happened to coincide nicely.
