Hi:

I had to reinstall Fc2.0 on the same computer with not changes to any hardware etc. I could run from the quick launch program fine. when I tried to launch using Modman, when I enter the game I had to use an activation in order to continue. I thought as long as you never changed anything you could uninstall and reinstall as many times as you wished. Why did I lose an activation? thanks for any info.:(

I dont know - hard to say what happens on your computer if you havent noticed anything. But no need to worry.

When you run out of activations, contact support which should provide more activations for you.

Thank you for reply. One question. Seeing as this was a strange reason to lose an activation, should I make a note of what happened? Too the best of my knowledge, I can tell the sequence of events but why I needed and activation again is strange. It says you can uninstall and reinstall and no re-activation is necessary but in this case it was to get the sim. working again. I know how the install procedure works, have no problems at all, just this strange issue. Is there a list of issues that could generate a request for a re-activation or is this just one of those strange issues that is unexplainable. Thanks Panzertard if you have any info. If not that's ok I know I can get activations again when I run out. Just wondering what would cause the need for re-activations. that way I can have a heads up in the future. cheers.:)

A quote from here:

An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3

CPU ID: 13

Windows PID: 3

Computer Name: 3

Hard drive volume serial number: 3

MAC address: 6

RAM amount: 6

If you just uninstall Black Shark and then reinstall it again on the same PC without reinstalling your operating system or changing hardware, you do not need to use a deactivation.

But as you said, you didnt do anything special - so technically it shouldn't have happened.

There are 2 more situations where it can happen:

- You log on to the PC with another user-account, since the Key was installed using the first account, the second account wont know about the Key.

The key is "per user" - the license only covers 1 active installation.

- If you use Virtual PC's like VMWare, change Network Interface Card (virtual ones). These will be picked up as a Physical NIC, and SF-points will accumulate.

Thats all I know for now.

If you need the adresses for reactivation later, you find them here:

No nothing like that. I was doing textures and repainting and Fc2.0 just disappeared. I reinstalled but did not work. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and this time I could use it under the quick launch. Under modman run, it fired up but only got to where it was asking for the serial no. and then proceeded to take me through the information for getting a new activation key. I tried the already had a key, but brought me back to request an activation no., so I did and it toke another activation. I have 6 left, so no big deal, just that it seems like a strange issue. Thanks for the info and prompt reply. Appreciated. Have a good day.

I replaced my CPU, motherboard, LAN card, memory, power supply, video card and hard drive. Despite all these changes I haven't lost any activation abilities at all.

Hell, Vortex, that should have sent bells off. :D. I could understand it if that was the problem. I don't know why it disappeared in the first place. I did not uninstall it but lost it anyway. the computer is working perfect so I don't think there is an issue with that. I was doing some re-paints and moving files around but I could have had it selected when I deleted some of the old paint files. That still doesn't explain the activation problem cause you can uninstall and reinstall without using an activation. One of those strange computer glitches I guess.

So in the book of Ying & Yang everything is alright then. One dude didn't have to spend his activation, another spent one when he shouldn't have to spend it.

The world is at peace ;)
