Laud
Hi guys, does anybody know, where the pictures (and maybe also the info-texts) of the enzyclopedia are stored, and how they could be extracted? I thought about making a small printable reference-table for mission makers, including a small picture of each unit and the most important information of each unit (letting weight, length and so on out). nomdeplume
Text snippets are in FC2\BlackShark\data\scripts\Enc Images are in FC2\BlackShark\data\images\Encyclopedia Range is probably also a good thing to include (especially for artillery units etc.) but often isn't mentioned in the Encyclopedia. Sometimes it's there if you look up the specific weapon it employs rather than the unit info; otherwise you might need to resort to internet sources to fill in the blanks. Laud
Great mate, TY! Yes, I already thought about putting weapon and corresponding units together. And yes, range will definetly be included! Speedbrake
I modified a file that some else initally created for vehicle identification in Black Shark for vehicle identification. This might be a start. http://www.4shared.com/account/document/mf5CF0Vc/Vehicle_ID_Chart.html
Laud
Thanks for link Speedbrake, but I'm afraid I'll need to start from the very beginning. A question for the ED-guys: Will vehicles performance change with "DCS:A-10C"? I need to know, because it will be a lot of work to do this units-overview, and it would be too bad, if I'd have to start again after the A-10C-release. Laud
Here's a preview of how I thought it should be. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or wishes! Btw.: "Armor Level" is a something to define how many hits of XY (don't know yet what will be suitable for this measurement) it takes to destroy the unit. I'll have to do some testings to find out the values for each and every unit/object. nomdeplume
Pretty nice. I think it'd be nice to have engagement range info for all units though, i.e. not tied to the weapon (although I do like how the TOW are shown) but for the unit's main weapons, or even for all its weapons. In particular it's useful for artillery units (probably for those you also need min range) but it's probably helpful for every kind of unit to know how close they need to be in order to engage enemies. Vikhr hits might be the best candidate for 'armor level', but keep in mind they have varying levels of protection (strong at the front, weakest at the back). Laud
Yeah, attack-ranges are a good point. But I wonder if they depend on the units set skill-level. And yes, Vikhrs seem to be a good measurement. However, both will require a lot of testing.... @Devs: Is the armor-level somehow somewhere defined? It would save me some hours if I could get my hands on those numbers... Laud
Another question: Found the "TPz Fuchs" in the pictures folder (there it's just titled TPZ). But I can't find a corresponding text-file. Further it should have a 7.62mm MG3 mounted (mountable) on the cabin-roof, while the picture shows it with no weapons. That means it will have no weapon in-game, right?
