Although it was AI vs AI, this KA-50 not only evaded a sidewinder missile, but managed to kill my wingman in a hail of bullets.

Long live the Blackshark!

Missiles are still far too easy to evade. A real Sidewinder would not have bitten the flare so easily. One of these days, a new seeker logic is going to come along... ;)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Agreed. I'm getting like 50% hits on helo's with sidewinder missiles.

A member of =STP= (Isegrim) shot down a client-A-10A in multiplayer with the 30mm of the Shark. This was awesome!

Now that is hardcore!

Someone taugh that bird a lesson.

I have a simple a2a mission against a mi24 and su25 and the damn hind gets me before I can even see him. I even cheat with f10 and can still not see him yet he is already firing 4 missiles at me. I have been able to avoid a couple but they always get me in the end.

Similar story with su25. Not sure what missiles I equiped it with but he always gets his off the rail before my sidewinder.

Hah poor Hog, however human player wouldn't hit plane so fast after loosing altitute and target from Shkval lock.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Would be hard, but you don't need a shkval lock to fire the gun. Just point and shoot.

Just poor engagement tactics on the part of the AI. The proper way to avoid having the heli become a threat is to pop up and attack from where he can't point.

How do ya pop up over flat terrain?:huh:

Then, there's not a whole lot of places a heli cant point..........

By going up. You don't attack helis at their altitude level; that's just asking for it :)

Also heard the debate on the PC Gamer podcast - Podcast Page

Some guys will be going head-to-head to duke it out

My 2 cents:

While flying on-line - with labels on - it is like a being a squirrel while a hawk circles over-head - you're always watching them

The A-10, if it has any height, is difficult to lock onto

It also has radar-guided missiles, which do not show up on the Black Shark (NO RWR !!!)

I think the IR missiles do show up - I'll have to test

I do get some indirect kills - on-line A-10 pilots sometimes get tunnel-vision in trying to strafe me

- but as I'm only 30m off the ground, they tend to lawn-dart :P :D

The A-10 has no radar-guided missiles. All the missiles it has are guided by IR, IIR, or CCD. Some bombs are INS/GPS guided and some laser.

The fact of the matter is very simple here: If you're ina heli, hide, because unless your fixed wing opposition is unaware, unskilled, un-thinking or some or all of the above, you will probably not know what hit you, and when you do know you won't be able to do much about it anyway.

Tried and tested during black shark development ;)

Oops, I was thinking about the on-line fast-movers - I got splashed by one the other night
